Eden Valley Poultry Inc. is seeking a Health and Safety Specialist to join our team. You will be reporting to the Safety and Wellness Officer. As a Health and Safety Specialist, you will be responsible for administering and supporting the company-wide occupational health and safety (H&S) program and a comprehensive wellness program, while creating a high performing, best in class corporate safety and wellness culture. As the Health and Safety Specialist you will: Lead by example and promote Eden Valley Poultry''s safety culture and values. Assist in implementing and enhancing the corporate Safety & Wellness Program. Develop and maintain Health & Safety policies, Job Safety Analyses (JSA), and Safe Work Procedures (SWP). Conduct workplace inspections, audits, and risk assessments, and recommend corrective actions. Deliver H&S training for employees, supervisors, and management on safety regulations and company procedures. Participate in internal and external audits where necessary. Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) legislation and company safety standards. Support incident investigations, emergency response, and accident prevention programs. Track, report, and analyze H&S metrics to identify trends and opportunities for improvement. Collaborate with HR, management, and external agencies to support return-to-work programs and safety initiatives. Support food safety, quality, and regulatory compliance as per company policies and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). Assists with preparing data and analysis to support budget planning for the safety and wellness function. Attend necessary meetings related to department, operations, continuous improvement, HACCP/food safety and quality. Qualifications and Requirements: Minimum 3 years'' experience in Health & Safety program management, training, and auditing (manufacturing experience preferred). Knowledge of workplace hazards, risk assessment, OHS legislation, and WCB processes. Knowledge of Nova Scotia health and safety regulations Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills; able to work in a fast-paced environment. Undergraduate degree in Occupational Health & Safety or equivalent experience; completion of a registered H&S program. CRSP designation and First Aid certification considered an asset. Effective communication skills with individuals at all levels of organization. Proficient in MS Office and familiar with process improvement tools. Ability to attend and conduct presentations.
