Automotive Service technician Iqaluit Nu, Canada Job Description Title: Automotive Service Technician Company: Nunavut Auto Community: Iqaluit Position: Indeterminate Housing: Single dwelling staff housing available(shared) Reporting to the general manager the Automotive Service Technician is responsible for keeping vehicles safe and reliable by diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues, performing repairs, and carrying out routine maintenance. Their work blends hands on mechanical skill with computerized diagnostics, problem solving, and communication, all of which are essential in today''s increasingly complex automotive industry. Key Responsibilities Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical systems in light and medium vehicles Perform seasonal maintenance, including winterization and cold weather system checks Conduct preventative maintenance to ensure vehicle reliability in extreme Arctic conditions Use diagnostic tools and manual troubleshooting techniques when technology is limited Maintain accurate service records and inventory parts used, often with limited supply chain access Communicate clearly with customers and team members, often across language or cultural barriers Ensure shop safety and cleanliness, with attention to fuel and fluid handling in cold climates Qualifications Journeyperson Automotive Service Technician certification (Red Seal) Minimum 3 years of experience in the automotive sector Experience working in cold climates or remote locations is a strong asset Proficiency with both modern diagnostic tools such as ALLDATA and manual/mechanical troubleshooting Ability to work independently with limited supervision Valid driver''s license (Class 5 or higher) About us We are a family owned company proudly serving communities across Nunavut, built on decades of hands on experience in northern transportation and vehicle care.
