Company Introduction: T&T Supermarket Inc. was founded in 1993 with two stores in BC. Since then, it has expanded rapidly and is now Canada''s largest Asian supermarket chain with 37 stores across the country: 14 in BC, 7 in Alberta, 14 in Ontario, and 2 in Quebec. The Company''s continuous expansion is going to bring more new stores in the next couple of years. The Role: Reporting to the Cashier Department Head (or his/her delegates), the General Assistant is responsible for providing good service to our customers by building rapport, fulfilling their requests, and providing fast and accurate checkout and packing services. Major Responsibilities: Greet customers by providing good customer service with a smile and friendly enthusiasm Maintain shopping baskets and trolleys cleanliness and ensure they are placed in the proper locations Put returning merchandise back to the sales area properly; timely process fresh and frozen goods; and prevent and minimize shortages Provide customers with proper packing services (place light items on top of heavy items; separate hot and cold items; and separate raw and cooked items), if necessary Create a good customer experience by delivering fast and accurate checkout service, prevent possible fraud (PLU number input, scanning merchandise, transaction discrepancies, and identifying counterfeit or fake cards), if necessary Monitor checkout stations to ensure that they are well-kept and function properly; maintain checkout area cleanliness Keep self up to date with product locations in the store and all in-store promotional activities, and assist other departments in providing accurate responses to customers Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements: Flexible to work in shifts, including weekdays, weekends, evening hours, and statutory holidays Be prepared to stand for long periods and be able to use work-related tools in a safe manner Knowledge of basic work safety, Canadian currency, and essential mathematics Relevant experience in handling cash is preferred This is an active job posting for a currently vacant position.
