We are hiring a Seasonal Environmental Technician to support environmental monitoring and sustainable residuals management projects through hands-on field and office work. This seasonal role is well suited to a motivated, safety-minded individual who enjoys working outdoors, traveling to project sites, and gaining practical industry experience. Seasonal Environmental Technician Position The BC-based Environmental Technician position is a seasonal opportunity to gain hands on experience in the environmental industry and learn alongside experienced professionals. The focus of the Environmental Technician role is to implement our operational and consulting project requirements both in the field and the office. You are a self-starter known for your organizational skills and work ethic. You are someone who enjoys time in the field (no matter the weather), is mechanically inclined, and keen to travel to project sites throughout BC and AB. Functions and Responsibilities Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: Conducting environmental monitoring and fieldwork, including site visits, sampling, and data collection Supervision of transport and operational site activities Travel to operational sites 1-4 days at a time Adherence to safety system requirements, actively supporting a safe work culture Data entry and recordkeeping Spatial data management and map generation in ArcGIS and Google Earth Cleaning and maintaining sampling and field equipment Light field equipment operation such as pressure washers and gas/electric powered hand tools General labour and administrative activities to support project teams and company operations Qualifications Technical diploma or bachelor''s degree in environmental science, plant science, soil science, agriculture, or a related discipline Valid Canadian driver''s license Skills and Experience 0-2 years of experience in environmental monitoring or consulting Proficiency Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) Experience working independently in a field-based role Physically fit and able to complete repetitive tasks such as soil sampling Comfortable working outdoors in adverse weather conditions Experience driving in off-road conditions Proficient with ArcGIS mapping software or willing to learn Fluent in English with excellent communication skills Experience operating equipment such as gas-powered trimmers, mowers, and small tractors Experience operating or working around heavy equipment and/or on farms and mines is an asset Experience working with organic residuals such as manure, biosolids, or compost is an asset To Apply Submit a resume and cover letter via our website at In your cover letter for the Metro Vancouver based Seasonal Environmental Technician role, please highlight your interest in residuals management and a response to the following questions: What key skills will you bring to SYLVIS?
