About Camp Dreamwood Camp Dreamwood is an inclusive overnight summer camp dedicated to creating a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment for children and youth. Our campers and staff come from diverse backgrounds and abilities, and the Health Centre plays a vital role in ensuring everyone can participate fully and safely in the camp experience. Position Overview The Head Nurse takes the lead role in managing camper and staff health and safety. This includes supervising Health Centre staff, providing medical care, overseeing emergency response, and communicating with families and camp leadership as needed. Responsibilities Lead the organization, setup, and daily operations of the Health Centre Maintain a clean, organized, and wellequipped Health Centre Ensure all first aid kits are stocked and maintained Inspect and test all AEDs Inform the Director when supplies need replenishment and recommend improvements to Health Centre equipment and procedures Assess, interpret, and respond to medical concerns of varying severity (e.g., concussions, sprains and strains, broken bones, gastrointestinal and respiratory illnesses) Provide first aid and medical care as issues arise Be on call and assume a lead role in crisis management and emergency response Diagnose medical issues and refer campers or staff to local medical facilities or hospitals when necessary Provide overnight monitoring of ill campers and staff as required Administer medications to campers and staff as required Ensure accurate and timely logging of all medical visits in the camp management system Organize and prepare medications for return to parents/guardians at checkout Communicate with parents/guardians regarding medical treatment or concerns Review camper medical and health history forms prior to registration day Connect with parents by phone or email in advance to discuss current or potential medical needs Prepare and share health information reports with relevant camp staff (Directors, Kitchen, Program Coordinators, Activity Instructors, etc.) Support the broader camp community as time permits Required Qualifications Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) licensed in Ontario (nursing students in 3rd or 4th year will be considered) Current College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) membership with liability insurance Current CPR and First Aid certification Valid Vulnerable Sector Background Check Valid G drivers license Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently and as part of a team Employment Period Camp Season: June 28th August 21st, 2026 (8 Weeks) Precamp preparation: Some preparation work may be required in May and/or June Why Join Camp Dreamwood?
