Position Summary The General Foreperson provides leadership and is responsible for assisting with scheduling, workforce planning, coordinating and supervising crews, and ensuring the safety, proper apprentice training and productivity of crews at the workface who install/assemble components of industrial products and structures. As a key participant in the relationship with the contractor, other contractors, company and client, the general foreperson has a further role as a coordinating manager and client interface. PROJECT DETAILS Site is at the Cenovus Christian Lake North plant 8/6 rotation $300/shift travel allowance Camp accommodations provided CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES Participate in safety/incident investigations and reviews in safety/incident investigations and review Identify needs and deficiencies in the plan/schedule and communicate this to the appropriate people Ensure quality and inspection of installation Apply project procedures, work site policies and collective agreement requirements Complete quality reports and required statistics Inform the Superintendent of any out of scope work Provide crews with adequate supervision to accomplish tasks in a safe effective manner Ensure all workers receive the proper training and review and approve worker time cards Reporting on crew production, work progress and change Completing quality control reports when required Recommending or providing feedback on personnel evaluations such as hiring, promotions and corrective action Knowing, understanding, communicating and ensuring compliance with the safety regulations (Occupational Health and Safety Regulation and Code) and safety policies and procedures Supporting job training for apprentices and facilitating mentoring of apprentices by journeymen Participates in and monitors ''safety meetings'' Identifying, verifying and reporting any scheduling conflicts with other crews and contractors to the appropriate persons QUALIFICATIONS Education 5 to 7 years of experience as a qualified and competent tradesperson 3 years of experience as a qualified and competent foreperson Possess a valid Journeyperson certificate of qualification issued by the appropriate provincial or federal authority Experience Must have experience working at heights Previous construction experience would be considered an asset Experienced in all facets of rigging SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, & ABILITIES Must successfully complete pre-employment drug and alcohol testing Capable of working as part of a team Fluent in speaking and readingEnglish Must be able to follow directions
