Detailed Overview In accordance with British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives standards and Fraser Health mission, the role provides direct individualized nursing care in an outpatient setting, supporting patients requiring minor surgical procedures, diagnostic endoscopy or interventional therapies. The nurse assesses, plans, provides, and evaluates nursing care, including discharge teaching for adults and children. Responsibilities Assesses patients and collects information from multiple sources, makes nursing diagnoses, and determines appropriate interventions. Observes patient acuity, intervenes as necessary, and resolves emergency situations through competent nursing interventions. Assists physicians with therapeutic interventions, procedure positioning, and equipment care. Collaborates with patients and families to develop and implement care plans, fostering therapeutic relationships and patient autonomy. Participates in admission, discharge, and interprofessional care planning, ensuring comprehensive care delivery. Coordinates nursing care, sets priorities, delegates tasks, and makes referrals per established protocols. Collaborates with interprofessional teams to resolve patient care issues and adjust care plans. Assesses learning needs, teaches selfcare and discharge planning, and promotes health maintenance. Facilitates referrals to appropriate health and community agencies. Documents assessments, diagnoses, interventions, and outcomes in accordance with practice standards. Participates in committees, conferences, and quality improvement activities, contributing to practice enhancements. Attends educational programs, maintains clinical competence, and pursues learning goals. Precepts or mentors new nursing staff and students, sharing knowledge and participating in orientation. Provides feedback to managers on patient care programs and protocols. Performs other related duties as required. Qualifications Education and Experience Graduation from an approved School of Nursing. Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM). Two (2) years recent relevant clinical experience in the designated clinical area, or equivalent education, training and experience. Skills and Abilities Clinical proficiency in the designated clinical area. Initiat(e) and maintain intravenous therapy. Perform comprehensive patient assessment and provide technical, therapeutic interventions. Communicate effectively with patients, families, public, and interprofessional team through verbal, written, and electronic means. Promote personcentered care, empathy, and cultural sensitivity. Problemsolve using data from multiple sources. Educate patients and families on health topics. Organize and prioritize work efficiently. Collaborate with and support interprofessional teamwork. Apply researchbased evidence to nursing decisions. Operate relevant equipment and computer applications. Have the physical ability to perform job duties.
