Job Title: FHT Program Assistant Class: Clinical Status: Union OPSEU Term: Full-Time temporary 6-month contract (with potential for permanent dependent on secured funding) The Owen Sound Family Health Team (OSFHT) is committed to improving and maintaining the health of the patients we serve through a team of family doctors, nurse practitioners and other health care providers. Based on local health and community needs, we provide access to innovative, high quality and comprehensive primary health care programs and services. The Program Assistant reports directly to the OSFHT Programs & Services Manager in the performance of their duties and responsibilities. This role supports combined administrative and assist with delivery of FHT programs & services in accordance with the OSFHT accountability agreements. This position requires an experienced Program Assistant who is organized, proactive and energetic with excellent interpersonal and patient care skills. We offer a competitive FHT compensation and benefits package in accordance with the OSFHT accountability agreement with Ontario Health. DUTIES & RESPONSIBLITIES Attend scheduled meetings and staff development as required Book and assist to manage Health Professionals'' appointment schedules Responsible for designated program telephone extension, including the handling of patient requests in a timely manner and necessary follow up, when directed by provider Assist with supply and inventory management Support program scheduling, preparation, patient enrollment, follow up and post meeting clean up Support IHP team in tracking and reporting program statistics. Assist IHPs including but not limited to the following: o Prepare patient''s EMR, including appropriate stamps, encounter assistants and forms. o Escort patients to examination room o Perform preliminary assessments such as BP, height, weight, urine dips o Be present while providers are seeing patients of the opposite gender, not only to provide assistance but also a corroborative presence for liability reasons Maintain positive channels of communication & cooperation with the patients we serve, as well as health care professionals, nurse practitioners & clerical staff Provide feedback to management regarding needs or suggestions for facilitating optimum personal or professional (office) efficiency Comply with OSFHT Policies & Procedures Maintain a neat and orderly work space Adhere to the Health and Safety Policies and Procedures, with particular regard to own safety and that of other people on premises May be required to undertake such duties, projects and/or assignments as may reasonably be undertaken by this position Other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS Must have a Medical Office Assistant (MOA) certificate, Personal Support Worker or equivalent Minimum two years'' experience in providing direct patient care or working in a medical office Strong interpersonal and communication skills Effective listening skills, with ability to process information required to appropriately provide service, while recognizing boundaries and confidentiality Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team Proven efficiency working in a fast-paced environment Reliable and capable of managing multiple administrative duties with minimum supervision Keen attention to detail and accuracy Commitment to best practices and quality patient care Able to demonstrate an understanding of PHIPA Excellent computer skills with electronic medical records experience Experience with Microsoft Office and desktop publishing is an asset Proficiency with Telus PSS is an asset Excellent work performance and attendance record is essential Job Types: Full-time, temporary 6-month contract position Pay: $ per hour Expected hours: 37.5 per week On-site parking Paid time off French not required Schedule: 8-hour shift Monday to Friday Work Location: In person Application deadline: Expected start date: ASAP Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract Contract length: 6 months Pay: From $21.80 per hour Expected hours: 37.5 per week Work Location: In person
