Overview We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented HACCP Coordinator to lead our food safety and quality assurance initiatives. In this vital role, you will develop, implement, and maintain Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) plans to ensure our manufacturing processes meet the highest standards of food safety, regulatory compliance, and quality management. Your expertise will help safeguard consumer health, optimize quality systems, and uphold our commitment to excellence across all operations. Duties Assist the Quality & CI Manager in ensuring all legal standards and regulatory compliances are met. Identify, evaluate, control and prevent hazards at all stages. Monitor HACCP and prerequisite programs, critical control points and communicate deviations. Manage document control and ensure all revisions on documents and forms are current and accurate. Perform inspections, analyze technical reports to determine if a product is safe for distribution or if corrective action is required. Review transport condition of food packaging carriers for compliances on food safety policy as stipulated in the transportation service agreement. Perform mock recalls and ensure identification, labelling, and traceability system functions, as planned. Collect samples for microbiology analysis and submit them to outside lab. Monitor technical product specifications from supplier and ensure it is up to date. Review employee, visitor, and contractor requirements for good manufacturing practices, general safety rules and training requirements for employees. Completes HACCP documents for new products, review, verify and update HACCP and GMP documents for all products from Operations and Service Providers. Create trend reports and manage validation studies. Conduct annual food safety program re-fresher training for all Acorn Packaging employees and ensure new employees and temporary workers have been trained on GMP. Conduct/oversee monthly in-house HACCP and GMP audits and assure corrective actions are followed through. Perform daily GMP inspection and report infractions and follow up on corrective actions. Coordinate the set-up, preparation and participation in all third-party audits. Maintain professional interaction with all third-party auditors and regulatory agencies. Also assist in follow up of corrective actions from the audit findings. Oversee all pest control activities, including overseeing the activities of the Pest Control Provider. Work collaboratively with the QA team, Maintenance, Production, Purchasing, Shipping & Receiving, Customer Service, Sales and Planning and Scheduling group to implement corrective actions based on audit findings or quality issues. Participate in meetings, improve activities, and perform other tasks upon request. Lead internal quality audits and support external inspections by certification bodies. Maintain detailed documentation of all safety protocols, inspection reports, calibration records for measurement tools, and audit results. Back up for Quality Assurance Technician Skills Post Secondary diploma / degree in food science or relevant field such as Chemistry, Microbiology, or Biology HACCP Certification A minimum of 2 years experience in quality assurance of food production / manufacturing Thorough knowledge of methodologies of quality assurance and standards Good knowledge of MS Office, databases, and work experience with an ERP. Strong analysis skills to interpret data collected during audits or process monitoring activities. Proficient in writing policies and procedures. Ability to conduct comprehensive quality audits and implement effective corrective actions within manufacturing environments. Excellent communication skills for training team members on safety procedures and compliance requirements. Great attention to detail and a result driven approach, continuous improvement mentality and problem-solving approach. Good work ethic, resourcefulness and organizational skills. Reliable, punctual and ability to react to situations with a strong sense of urgency. Must be flexible and able to handle multiple and varied tasks that contribute directly to the effectiveness and quality of the company and all employees. Must have strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with other departments such as: Operations, Purchasing, Scheduling, Shipping & Receiving, Customer Service, Sales, Maintenance.
