RVS is seeking dedicated, adaptable and effective Substitute Educational Assistants to join our close-knit and dynamic team. The successful candidate will be someone who embraces the unique talents of every child, creates a safe, nurturing and innovative learning environment, and strives to make a difference in each child''s life. Responsibilities: Working under the direction and supervision of the Head of School and Academic Leadership Team, Substitute Educational Assistants will: Provide direct instruction of students under direct supervision of the teacher. Conduct instructional activities assigned by the teacher; work with individuals students or small groups for the purpose of practicing and/or reinforcing learning concepts and assisting students in reaching their academic goals and grade-level standards. Work within established structures, including classroom management structures. Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom. Function as an appropriate role model for children, providing proper examples, emotional support, and a friendly attitude and general guidance. Adhere to the appropriate code of ethics and student confidentiality. Respond to emergency situations (e.g. student injuries, fights, etc.) for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns and/or directing to appropriate personnel for resolution. Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning the students academic success. Help supervise students throughout the school day, inside and outside the classroom. This includes lunchroom and playground duty. Keep the teacher informed of special needs or problems of individual students. Never leave a child unsupervised either inside or outside the classroom. Qualifications and Abilities : Be energetic, reliable, flexible and adaptable; Show excellent organizational, prioritizing and time management skills; and Establish a positive professional relationship with students that is respectful of students'' human dignity and characterized by mutual respect, trust and harmony. Possession of an Early Childhood Certificate would be considered an asset and required in our Early Learning classrooms. Previous experience as an Educational Assistant. In the interest of child safety, proof of a satisfactory Police Clearance with Vulnerable Sector Check is a requirement for all positions at River Valley School.
