Job Description

Job overview As a field service technician, this will involve traveling to various locations to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair product-related issues promptly and efficiently. This position requires a combination of technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and exceptional customer service to ensure customer satisfaction and uphold the company''s reputation for quality service. While on deliveries as an assistant, your main role is to ensure the smooth delivery of furniture products to our customers while also providing exceptional customer service. When not on deliveries, you will assist with various warehouse tasks to support operations. This dynamic position requires excellent communication skills, technical and problem solving skills, attention to detail, and a customer-centric approach. Responsibilities or duties Respond to service calls from customers reporting issues with merchandise, including but not limited to structural damage, mechanical malfunctions, and cosmetic defects Assess the nature and extent of the customer''s concerns, utilizing technical knowledge and diagnostic tools to identify root causes and develop effective repair solutions Perform basic repairs and adjustments on furniture components, such as tightening screws, replacing hardware, fixing loose joints, and repairing minor damages Assist customers with the assembly, disassembly, and reassembly of furniture items as needed, ensuring proper alignment, fit, and functionality Utilize critical thinking and problem-solving skills to address complex issues and find innovative solutions to restore furniture to optimal condition Maintain accurate records of service calls, including details of repairs performed, parts used, and customer interactions, to facilitate follow-up and ensure accountability Safely load furniture items onto delivery truck ensuring proper handling and securing of items Accompany delivery drivers on routes to customer locations, serving as the primary customer liaison during deliveries Unload furniture items at customers'' homes or specified delivery locations, ensuring items are handled with care to prevent damage Assemble furniture items on-site according to manufacturer instructions and customer preferences Utilize basic hand tools and equipment to properly assemble furniture, ensuring all components are securely fastened Install and position assembled furniture items within customers'' homes, following layout instructions and ensuring proper alignment Assist customers with the placement of furniture items within their homes, ensuring items are positioned according to customer preferences Communicate effectively with customers regarding delivery times, assembly progress, and any potential delays, maintaining a professional and helpful demeanor at all times Document any delivery issues or customer feedback and report them to the appropriate department for resolution Maintain accurate records of delivered items, assembly tasks completed, and any customer feedback or requests Complete necessary paperwork, including delivery manifests, assembly instructions, and required documentation for returned or damaged items Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others Handle furniture items and assembly tools with care to prevent damage and minimize the risk of accidents or injuries during delivery and assembly processes Assist with warehouse operations during periods when there are no deliveries or service calls scheduled such as but not limited to general warehouse maintenance tasks, including cleaning, organizing, and arranging inventory for optimal storage space utilization Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract, Seasonal Contract length: 8 months Pay: $23.00-$25.00 per hour Expected hours: 35 44 per week Experience: Furniture Assembly: 4 years (preferred) Licence/Certification: Class G Licence (preferred) Work Location: In person
