Metro Supply Chain is a 2024 winner of the Canadas Best Managed Companies program, recognized for its strategic expertise, culture of innovation and commitment to its people and local communities.SUMMARY Reporting to the Director Transportation Network Strategy, the Carrier Manager is responsible for developing and maintaining strong relationships with transportation carriers to ensure optimal service, cost efficiency, and compliance within a Third-Party Logistics (3PL) environment. This role oversees carrier procurement, performance management, and strategic alignment with business objectives, ensuring capacity availability and competitive pricing across multiple transportation modes. RESPONSIBILITIES Lead carrier sourcing initiatives, including RFPs and contract negotiations for TL, LTL, intermodal, and parcel services.Secure competitive rates and capacity to meet customer and operational requirements.Maintain a balanced carrier portfolio to mitigate risk and ensure service reliability.Build and sustain strong partnerships with carriers to foster collaboration and continuous improvement.Act as the primary point of contact for carrier escalations and issue resolution.Conduct regular business reviews with carriers to assess performance and strategic alignment.Track and analyze carrier KPIs (on-time delivery, claims ratio, cost performance).Ensure carriers comply with contractual obligations, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.Implement corrective actions for underperforming carriers and drive improvement plans.Collaborate with internal teams to align carrier strategies with network optimization goals.Identify opportunities for cost savings, service enhancements, and capacity improvements.Stay informed on market trends and proactively adjust carrier strategies to maintain competitiveness.EDUCATION Bachelors degree in Supply chain, Logistics, Business, or related field.
