This is a great opportunity for someone interested in working in a rural community on an island off the West Coast. The clinic has 3 family physicians working part-time; 1 on Monday, 1 on Tues & Wed, and 1 on Thurs & Fri. The current opening is for up to 1 FTE. The clinic provides full family practice for a broad demographic. The clinic has a variety of allied health providers visiting the clinic including a social worker and pharmacist. The clinic building is owned by a non-profit society and provides space for a physiotherapist, Island Health care providers, medical lab nurse, and a non-profit society providing home care and family & youth counseling. Start Date As soon as possible. May be eligible for additional remuneration in accordance with the Rural Subsidiary Agreement (RSA) including: Recruitment Incentive: $10,000; Relocation Costs Reimbursement: up to a maximum of $15,000; Fee Premium: 9.56%, Annual Flat Fee: $10,999.17; Rural CME starting at $2,200 /annum after 2 years in the community increasing to a maximum of $4,400/annum after 4 years. Rural GP Locum Program provides $900/day to locum physician with 33 days/annum locum coverage to resident physician. Community Information Denman Island is one of two islands just 20 mins South of Courtenay in the Comox Valley, the other is Hornby Island. Denman is a rural island community of about 1200 permanent residents. It swells to about 1600 people in Summer. The island has endless opportunities for outdoor recreation and hosts festivals, music concerts, plays, etc. all year round. There is a general store, post office, hardware store, craft store, bookstore/coffee shop, and a Bistro with both food and entertainment. There are two community halls one providing an entertainment and meeting space the other housing a fitness centre and providing activity space. Elementary education is provided at the Denman Community School (School District 71) and a pre-school is provided by the Blackberry Lane Children's Centre. Current FP works Tues & Wed 9-5. Hours could be negotiated with physician colleagues. Option to include virtual appts. Remuneration Fee for Service.
