Are you passionate about relationally investing in youth and seeing youth experience wholeness and transformation in the heart of downtown Toronto? Do you love collaborating with others to make a difference in a neighbourhood? As part of our Gaining Ground Strategy, Youth Unlimited is hiring a Community Outreach Worker for the St. James Town neighbourhood. St. James Town is a small neighbourhood of highrises in downtown Toronto. It is one of the most densely populated places in Canada, estimated at 17,000 people, and often called a world within a block due to the cultural diversity that many newcomers bring to the community. One quick walk through the neighbourhood, and you will see kids running on the soccer fields, grandmas shopping for fruit at a local stand, and teens hanging around with their friends. We anticipate hiring two individuals to work alongside each other in this neighbourhood. The St. James Town Community Workers will build relationships with youth and families by partnering with existing ministries within St. James Town and potentially pioneering new ones as part of our commitment to build transformative relationships with the youth of this community. This ministry will creatively respond to needs and opportunities in St. James Town and could include sports, arts, after school homework help, etc! This is a new opportunity, and the position is currently unfilled. Were excited to find the right person to join our team! Key Role Outcomes Partnerships with local churches and community organizations are active and thriving. St. Jamestown youth experience a sense of safety and belonging. St. Jamestown families feel supported and cared for. Ministry-minded individuals within the community are invited, equipped, and mobilized to invest in the lives of youth. Approaches to supporting newcomers are attentive, culturally responsive, and continually learning. Key Responsibilities Build a visible relational presence within the community Collaborate with existing ministries in St. James Town Recruit a team of dedicated volunteers to establish long-term relationships with youth and their families Establish connection points with youth and families through ministry programming Provide one-on-one mentorship, discipleship and guidance through long-term relationships with youth. Create pathways for interested youth to engage with local churches Invite partners into the vision through fundraising, and steward resources wisely to ensure the long-term sustainability and impact of the ministry. Requirements Pursue a vital spiritual life and growing relationship with God as a devoted follower of Jesus Christ Be a faithful and contributing member of a local church A deep commitment to a holistic approach to proclaiming the good news of Jesus Christ and Gods Kingdom Able to engage youth relationally Experience working with youth and/or childrenAble to collaborate with other ministries and volunteers Has a heart for St. James Town Position Information This is a full time or part-time position (20-44 hours/week). The expected salary range is $58,060 to $67,370 annually for a 44 hours/week role. The salary of this staff position is determined on a scale based on education and experience and is 100% funded on a missionary basis requiring the successful applicant to fundraise and gather a personal support team.
