Education, Training and Experience Graduate of a recognized training program in Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography and Diagnostic General Sonography, certified with Sonography Canada or ARDMS, or certified with Sonography Canada and passed the Sonography Canada Skills Assessment (CCSA). Responsibilities Receive and prepare patients for testing, including completing requisitions and reviewing clinical history. Perform ultrasound procedures on various body regions, label and archive images, and may perform venipuncture for contrast media as directed. Assist in procedural rooms, setting up biopsy trays, and supporting interventional procedures. Monitor patients for contrast reactions or emergencies, and perform CPR if required. Check image quality, prepare technical worksheets, and discuss findings with radiologist or cardiologist. Facilitate workflow, regulate exam times, and arrange patient transport as needed. Monitor equipment performance and conduct quality control per manufacturer guidelines. Demonstrate equipment use to staff and assist in orientation of new employees. Maintain patient and hospital records in diagnostic imaging and hospital information systems. Participate in team activities to enhance care delivery and evidencebased practice, including drafting and revising guidelines. Engage in approved research and special projects, reviewing literature and summarizing data for research teams. Maintain a clean and safe work area, disinfecting equipment and surfaces. Continuously update clinical knowledge and develop professional development plans. Report unsafe situations and carry out other related duties as assigned. Ability to operate related equipment and work independently or collaboratively. Ability to establish workload priorities and work in a fastpaced environment. CPR competency. Computer proficiency, including use of a client care information system. Physical ability to perform job duties.
