The OpportunityOur Power subsector, a key component of WSPs ERI (Energy, Resources and Industry) sector, supports clients from coast to coast. Our team collaborates to meet and exceed the highest industry standards through innovation.WSP is seeking an Intermediate Distribution Engineer to join our Power Delivery team, located in British Columbia offices (Vancouver, Victoria, Nanaimo, Prince George, Kelowna or Kamloops).WSP is a leader in delivering Power sector solutions to support safe, secure, and sustainable energy for Canadians, involving conceptual, preliminary, and final design of overhead and underground distribution facilities from 4.16 kV to 34.5 kV. This role focuses on distribution systems in urban and rural contexts, with close collaboration with clients and stakeholders to understand engineering needs and ensure project coordination.The successful candidate will apply technical expertise and consulting experience to deliver projects on time and within budget, while upholding high standards of quality and safety. You will help bring WSPs expertise, experience, and innovation to support clients, utilities, and communities in the transformation to a new energy future. Be involved in projects with our Power Team and contribute to a growing organization that meets client objectives and solves challenges.What you can expect to do hereDesign and analyze overhead and underground distribution systems using distribution design softwareDesign overhead lines based on client standardsAssemble bid packages for construction of overhead line designsApply knowledge of CSA, CEC, and other applicable codes for design of distribution systemsConduct feasibility studies, including estimates, preliminary modelling and electrical clearance checksCollaborate with multidisciplinary teams, clients and stakeholders to incorporate design requirements and ensure project executionReview and markup drawings to meet client and design expectationsStay informed about the latest developments in powerline engineering and best practicesPrepare reports and documentation for approvals, permits, and updatesPrepare construction scopes and design basis for overhead and underground projectsConduct site visits and provide support during constructionSeek opportunities to improve design efficiency and qualityFoster a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement; promote best practicesGuide and mentor junior engineersWhat youll bring to WSPBachelors degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Civil Engineering (other disciplines may be considered)Registration as a P.Eng in your province of residenceMinimum of 5+ years direct experience in distribution line designExperience with voltages from 4.16 kV to 34.5 kV preferredProficient in distribution design software (e.g., PLS CADD, SPIDA Calc, Stakeout or similar)Strong knowledge of electrical distribution and transmission systems; familiarity with safety standards and regulatory requirementsExcellent communication, presentation, organizational and writing skills for client interface and project documentationWillingness to travel as needed for project assessments, meetings and on-site supportCompensationSalary range (in British Columbia): $91,200 - $125,400.
