The University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, Department of Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases, in partnership with Alberta Health Services, invites applications for an Academic Infectious Disease Physician to be based at the University of Alberta Hospital. Located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, the Faculty has been internationally recognized as among the world''s top 50 medical schools and as one of Canada''s premier health-education institutions. The University is currently home to more than 38,000 students with more than 15,000 faculty and staff. The Division of Infectious Diseases has over 30 Faculty members and provides clinical services to all acute care facilities in Edmonton, and consultative services to Northern Alberta as well as western NWT and parts of BC. There are established specialty programs in HIV/AIDS, Transplant Infectious Diseases, Viral Hepatitis, Outpatient Parenteral Antimicrobial Therapy (OPAT), Infection Prevention and Control and Antimicrobial Stewardship as well as close relationships with Provincial and regional microbiology laboratories, and regional Public Health. The Division boasts one of the longest running and most highly regarded Canadian postgraduate training programs in Infectious Diseases. It has a long history of conducting clinical trials with dedicated Clinical Trial Unit infrastructure, and members of the Division are actively engaged across clinical, translational and basic science research. The successful candidate will be offered a contingent tenured or tenure-track appointment in the Department of Medicine, with the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, which is in accordance with the University of Alberta Faculty Agreement, and offers a comprehensive benefits package. Remuneration for this position is based on the Academic Medicine & Health Services Program (AMHSP). Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
