You will provide hands-on experience in landscape maintenance, facility upkeep, and customer service, while supporting the overall cleanliness and safety of park facilities. You will be responsible for assisting with park maintenance operations, facility upkeep, event support, and customer service. As the Student, Parks Maintenance, you will perform the following duties, including but not limited to: Oversee and carry out park maintenance operations throughout parks, recreational areas, green spaces, and streetscape environments including cutting grass, shrub bed maintenance, and watering plants Assist in the maintenance and minor repairs of park facilities such as restrooms, benches, picnic areas, playgrounds, walking trails, bike paths, and other park infrastructure Ensure cleanliness of park spaces and facilities including litter pick-up, waste management, debris and graffiti removal, and identifying hazards Operate and maintain basic park maintenance equipment and tools while adhering to established safety guidelines and using required personal protective equipment (PPE) Assist with event set-up and tear-down, transport materials and equipment, manage waste and recycling stations, and return equipment to storage Greet park visitors, provide information, document maintenance activities, and report safety or maintenance concerns to supervisors The Ideal Candidate We are seeking a reliable and hardworking student working towards a degree or diploma or equivalent, who has completed a high school diploma, is actively enrolled in a college or university program, and is returning to school in Fall of 2026. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience or interest in outdoor recreation, landscaping, gardening, or working in a park or natural setting. We are seeking an individual with superior verbal and written communication skills, a demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and provide customer service, and excellent attention to safety and detail. The successful candidate for Student, Parks Maintenance will be required to work a flexible schedule. The majority of the work will be conducted outdoors and involves physical tasks, travel to multiple park locations, and work during varying weather conditions. A valid G class driver''s license, satisfactory passing of a Criminal Record Check, and First Aid/CPR certification (asset) are required. Satisfactory proof of schooling or return to school will be requested.
