Overview We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Special Needs Support Teacher to join our team at Church Street School Child Care Centre. The candidate we seek will be working with children with a variety of exceptionalities throughout our centre in our after school program (3PM-6PM Monday-Friday). This role involves working closely with children, fellow teachers, resource consultants, and families to promote an inclusive learning environment. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children, particularly those with special needs, will possess strong communication skills, and is prepared to be on site every day to provide consistancy and routine to the children in care. We hope you join us Responsibilities Collaborate with teachers and staff to develop and implement individualized plans for students with disabilities. Provide direct support to children with special needs during program activities, trips, routines, and recreational periods. Assist students with daily routines, including mobility, communication, and behavioral management strategies. Support early childhood education initiatives by creating engaging and adaptive learning activities tailored to each child''s abilities. Maintain detailed documentation of student progress and any incidents or concerns that arise during interactions. Foster an inclusive environment that promotes respect, understanding, and positive social interactions among students. Qualifications Must have a current Vulnerable Sector Check (within 6 months) Must have Valid Level C First Aid and CPR Experience working with children in educational or therapeutic settings is highly preferred. Knowledge of early childhood education principles and classroom management techniques. Prior experience with special education or working directly with children with disabilities is desirable. Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members, students, and families. Compassionate attitude with a genuine interest in supporting children''s developmental needs. Ability to adapt to diverse learning styles and behavioral challenges. Relevant certifications or training related to special education or working with individuals with disabilities are advantageous but not required.
