Job Summary The Dauphin - Ste Rose Veterinary Clinics are seeking a Hospital Assistant to join our team in a unique and exciting role. As a hospital assistant, you get the unique opportunity to combine your customer service skills with your love of animals. Hospital Assistants split their time between reception and animal handling in a role that embodies our dedication to treating all clients and patients with respect, compassion, and empathy. Responsibilities Part 1: Veterinary Clinic Reception Greeting clients & patients and creating a warm and friendly environment Triaging incoming calls, booking appointments, prioritizing walk-ins, and managing staff schedules Answering emails, text messages, and phone inquiries Maintaining client accounts and patient medical records Managing communication between clients and doctors as well as amongst the team Clinic maintenance and cleaning Processing payments and performing day-end. Advising clients on animal nutrition and routine healthcare (training provided) Communicating animal care recommendations as provided by veterinarians (training provided) Part 2: Tech Assistant Stocking, counting, and handling inventory3 Clinic maintenance and cleaning Providing support to Veterinarians & Technicians Attending appointments in clinic & on farm Feeding, cleaning, handling, and caring for large and small animal patients Performing non-medical Patient Care such as nail trims, bathing, and brushing. Restraining animals for procedures and ensuring their comfort and care during their visit. Advising clients on animal nutrition and routine healthcare (training provided) Communicating animal care recommendations as provided by veterinarians (training provided) Skills Proven experience working with animals Must be comfortable safely handling animals of all shapes and sizes Ability to meet the job''s physical demands (e.g., lift up to 60 lbs, stand for long periods of time, squatting to restrain animals, bending over, etc) Must be comfortable with technology and working with various computer systems A strong desire to learn about mixed animal veterinary medicine Exceptional organizational and time management skills Professional written and verbal communication skills Ability to adapt to change quickly and prioritize tasks based on urgency Other Experience that is ''Nice to Have'', but not required Veterinary Reception or Veterinary Assistant training certificate (or willingness to obtain) Previous clinical experience (veterinary, medical, or dental clinic) Previous animal industry experience (pet store, doggy daycare, kennel, etc.) Experience with animals such as 4H, shelter volunteering, family farm, etc. Job Types: Full-time, Part-time Pay: $18.00-$24.00 per hour Expected hours: 20 40 per week Benefits: Casual dress Company events Dental care Disability insurance Discounted or free food Employee assistance program Extended health care Mileage reimbursement On-site parking Paid time off RRSP match Store discount Vision care Work Location: In person
