Bilingual (English-French) Program Coordinator RESPONSIBLE TO: Board of PPO, or their designate. Currently the Executive Director Remuneration : Salary and benefits as outlined in the Collective Agreement with COPE 225, starting wage currently 25$/h Overall description: A PPO Program Coordinator is a primarily client facing role, with some engagement with community partners and/or the public at large. Each front-line staff will be assigned to at least one primary program, including but not limited to: Options Program; Education Program; Programs for which PPO receives non-permanent funding. Responsibilities Primary program Be responsible for undertaking the responsibilities associated with the assigned program(s). Secondary program(s) Each front-line staff will be required to cover for absences in any other front-line program, as required. Volunteer management Coordinate or support volunteers as required Participate in developing and delivering volunteer training and their skills development Maintain the database of volunteers General Operational Duties Assist people who drop in for services at the PPO office Participate in development and distribution of appropriate materials and resources, including in public fora as required Provide advice or recommendations on the improvement of services or operations Identify and foster community partnerships Participate in professional development, as required Ensure appropriate record keeping & data collection Prepare and provide reports as required Contribute to performance reviews, job evaluations, staff hiring, and team building Other duties as assigned Required Qualifications A post secondary degree in social work, counselling, education or a similar field from a recognized institution Full verbal and written fluency in both English and French Commitment to PPO''s values as a pro-choice and feminist community organization Experience working with marginalized populations. PPO may recognize prior experience, including lived experience, as an alternative to formal education requirements Required Skills Ability to supervise and manage volunteers Ability to both work independently and as a team member Ability to consistently meet deadlines and targets without constant supervision Knowledge of and confidence discussing reproductive rights, gender-based violence, and the social determinants of health from an intersectional perspective. Strong relationship building and networking skills, and the ability to interact and work professionally and effectively with staff, clients, and community partners. Empathetic, non-judgmental, and adept at engaging with a broad spectrum of personalities in an inclusive environment. Ability to adapt to change, be flexible in response to changing organizational needs based on funding and other factors that can shift organizational priorities Assets Experience providing front line services in a non-profit, or community services setting Experience leading projects in the non-profit or community services sector Fluency in other languages Experience working in sexual health and/or gender-based violence Experience working with children and/or youth Experience working with newer Canadians, Experience working Indigenous communities Further Information: The Options Program responds to inquiries from clients regarding pregnancy and sexual health by phone and by email, as well as in person drop in support. This program also offers counseling for people seeking more in depth support regarding pregnancy choices. The Education Program is a proactive sex education, pregnancy, and consent & healthy relationships educational program that offers workshops in schools and community centres around Ottawa.This program works primarily with youth.
