The Events & Group Sales Manager will be a crucial, dual-focused role. The main task will be to drive and manage corporate group sales to meet and exceed targets, coupled with providing essential support and leadership in daily operations management and event coordination to ensure a seamless, high-quality guest experience. Key Objectives Corporate Group Sales Achieve and surpass annual sales targets across food, beverage, and room rental fees. Generate, prepare, and present comprehensive proposals, sales contracts, and coordinate site inspection visits for potential clients. Develop strategic action plans to effectively sell corporate event spaces. Proactively identify and develop new markets and revenue streams, introducing innovative sales methods to exceed market objectives. Work strategically with diverse business segments, including corporate, social, and associative groups. Contribute to updating budget forecasting processes and provide requested sales reports and analytics. Event Coordination Serve as the primary point of contact, ensuring quality, efficient, and prompt service for all group reservation and event inquiries from current and potential clients. Coordinate, finalize, and meticulously communicate event and reservation details to all relevant internal departments. Collaborate closely with the Operations Management team and kitchen concessionaires to guarantee a high level of client satisfaction. Lead and manage the on-site operations for large-scale events, ensuring the strict adherence to all established service standards, company policies, and procedures. Operations Management Execute the scheduled daily opening and closing procedures for the market, maintaining established standards and guidelines. Support the general management team with various tasks necessary for the smooth and efficient daily operation of the market. Actively engage with market clients (B2C and B2B) to gather feedback and ensure their satisfaction. Maintain a primary focus on the quality of daily operations, enhancing customer engagement, and providing effective staff supervision. Undertake any other related tasks as required by management. Skills & Attributes Experience: A minimum of 3 to 5 years of progressive experience in a similar sales, events, and/or operations management position. Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with a proven ability to interact professionally and positively with clients, employees, and third parties, reflecting positively on the brand. Financial Acumen: Solid mathematical skills, including proficiency in basic arithmetic, budgeting, understanding profit/loss concepts, percentages, and variance analysis. Leadership & Training: Demonstrated ability to motivate and train staff, maintain team cohesion, and lead by example during operations. Problem-Solving: Proven ability to remain calm, courteous, and professional under pressure, with strong reasoning skills, good judgment, and the capacity to analyze and resolve operational and client issues effectively. Availability: Must be available and willing to work a flexible schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, and/or holidays, as necessitated by event schedules. Industry Knowledge: A strong understanding of the restaurant/food service industry and the local corporate/events market is highly advantageous. Technology: Knowledge of Tripleseat or other similar event management software is a definite asset. Education & Certification Post-secondary education in Hospitality, Business Administration, or a related field is an asset. No specific certifications are mandated, but industry-relevant training or certifications are viewed favorably. Physical Demands and Work Environment The role is based on-site at the Time Out Market location in Vancouver, BC. The work environment is a fast-paced, high-energy market setting that includes food, beverage, and large group events. The role may require standing or walking for extended periods, and occasional lifting or moving of event-related equipment.
