You will assist in efficient and effective reclamation, processing and/or distribution of goods and donations. The incumbent will be knowledgeable of and strictly follow all legislative safety procedures.Our ideal candidate is a Distribution/recycling enthusiast who is customer focused, can maintain their composure, and has the ability to communicate and build relationships. In doing so, the candidate will be actionoriented, drive results, and will strive to become an expert in their role through continuous selfdevelopment and learning.Union DRC Associate Job TasksMaintains a safe and healthy work environment through compliance with Health & Safety regulationMust adhere to CVOR and organizational policies on vehicle safety and operationAttentive to the safekeeping of The Salvation Army property including donationsProvide guests and donors with courteous and diplomatic serviceResponsible to assist with furniture/large donation pickupsResponsible to assist in loading and unloading goods at the Distribution and Recycling Centre, Stores, and other destinationsAssists maintaining Distribution and Recycling Centre clean and organized as time permitsGreet donors and accept donations at the Distribution and Recycling Centre and Donor Welcome Center, if applicableAssist in loading guest purchases safely, if applicableRepresent the Core Values in all that you doPerform other duties as assignedUnion DRC Associate Skills And QualificationsMinimum Grade 10 or equivalentAttentive to safe performance of your jobAbility to follow rules and work safelyResults driven with a focus on serviceAction oriented and able to communicate effectively while maintaining your composure in challenging situationsValid drivers licence preferred and may be required to provide a drivers abstract satisfactory to the employerFrequently exposed to a variety of environmental factorsFlexible in work hours to achieve predetermined deadlinesSubstantial physical exertion is required for lifting and movement of heavy boxes and furniture up to 75 lbs frequently and 50 lbs occasionallyAbility to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretionWorking ConditionsBack room sorting and stock warehousing with consideration for safety factorsConstant attention to perform job safely is required.Intermittent exposure to varying changes of heat or cold dependent on seasonal variancesPredetermined deadlines must be metWork requires long periods of repetitious tasksSubstantial physical effort is required for lifting and movement of heavy boxes and furniture, and operation of some equipmentConstant high level of lifting, standing, walking, bending and twistingYou can expectTo join a handson work environment where you will be required to physically move through our operation while adhering to daily goals;We are operational 7 days a week and schedule our employees based on operational needs; days, evenings, weekends and holidays (Please Note: Our stores are open for shopping Monday to Saturday and Sundays we are open to receive donations)Work week - Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday (work days), Thursday & Friday (days off), Saturday and Sunday (work days)As part of our ongoing commitment to ensuring a safe and healthy work environment for all our employees, CSA approved footwear is required for all Retail and DRC positions within NROCompensationThe target hiring range for this position is $19.49 to $19.99 with a maximum of $20.49.
