As a Maintenance Shift Superintendent, you will have the opportunity to lead by example, inspire positive change, and contribute to a culture that values safety, trust, respect, collaboration, and innovation. This position is at PKM Canada Marine Terminal LP (Vancouver Wharves Terminal) and reports to the Manager, Maintenance and Engineering in the Natural Gas Liquids Business Unit (NBU), part of Pembinas Facilities Division. Located in one of the busiest port cities in North America, our Vancouver Wharves location is one of the largest terminals on the West Coast and handles both liquids and bulk products including mineral concentrates, diesel, sulphur, and grain products on behalf of customers. Responsibilities Champion safety, quality, and environmental compliance by actively participating in SQE programs, including daily planning meetings, weekly production meetings, safety audits, incident investigations, and corrective actions. You will lead by example, fostering a culture of Zero by Choice and adherence to Pembinas Life Saving Rules. Inspire and guide your team by monitoring and managing individual performance, ensuring Foremen, Longshore, and Pembina employees meet expectations and are held accountable. You will implement and enforce policies that align with corporate, local, and federal regulations while promoting a culture of respect, trust, and collaboration. Plan and oversee terminal maintenance by managing manning requirements, daily instructions, work notifications / workorders, and work permits. You will ensure all work is performed within established SQE standards and adapt to changes with an open mind to achieve optimal results. Lead daily operations, planning, and maintenance shift review meetings to stay current on productivity on key work orders throughout the shift. Prepare for ordering the labour required to support activities on the night and graveyard shifts by established cutoff times. Foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement by setting firmyetfair objectives for Foremen and supporting them in achieving desired results. Participate in the development process of annual operating and capital budgets and effectively manage and assign resources consistent with achieving these budget goals. Build strong relationships with customer representatives, regulatory agencies, union representatives, and other stakeholders. You will develop and maintain positive working relationships with Local 500 Business Agents and Local 514 Shop Stewards. Drive innovation and collaboration by participating in the continuous improvement process to further develop terminal business objectives. You will encourage your team to embrace new ideas and approaches that enhance efficiency and safety. Ensure compliance with Federal, Provincial, and corporate regulations and policies, taking immediate corrective action when necessary to prevent SQE incidents. Qualifications Leadership experience: Progressive management/supervisory responsibilities, with relevant experience in operations management of unionized work sites considered an asset. Education and certifications: A degree in engineering or related discipline, or equivalent experience. TQ certification, particularly Mechanical or Electrical, will also be considered an asset. Relevant experience in maintenance management will be considered an asset. Operational expertise: Working knowledge of bulk terminal operations, safety procedures, standards, and environmental regulations. Proven ability to lead: Demonstrated experience managing people and assets effectively, fostering a teamoriented and inclusive environment, and promoting positive cultural change. Problemsolving skills: Strong organizational and analytical abilities, with experience in incident investigation, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and developing written procedures. Communication skills: Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build trust and respect among diverse stakeholders. Learning mindset: A selfmotivated individual who is accountable for their own growth and development, and embraces opportunities to learn and adapt. Technical proficiency: Proficiency with computer applications including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook. Flexibility: Able to work effectively in a team environment and consistently maintain a professional and respectful demeanor/attitude with coworkers, clients, vendors, and regulatory agencies. Additional Requirements This position is considered Safety Sensitive and will require PreEmployment Drug & Alcohol Testing. You will also be required to provide a Drivers Abstract.
