Working as a core member of our team in Canada, the Senior Marine Surveyor will provide a range of surveying and consultancy services to our clients. This could include conducting condition surveys, investigating maritime casualties and incidents, attending shipyards to perform risk assessments on new build or repair projects, and much more. The job holder will be expected to undertake assignments at short notice, both shoreside and at sea. What will you be doing? Provide marine consulting services and expertise to our clients. Coordinate and carry out inspections with consultants and / or attend operations. Attend vessel salvage and wreck removal projects. Estimate cost and time of repairs and subsequently compile reports for our clients. Undertake business development activities such as the promotion of our maritime consulting and survey services with local and international clients. Produce written reports of all surveys conducted and report the findings to our clients within agreed timeframes. Ensure that your level of billable utilisation is above 60%. Adhere to our QHSE system within all operations and ensure compliance with all applicable company QHSE policies, procedures, work systems and regulations. What are we looking for? Master Mariner (STCW Class 1) or Chief Engineer (STCW Class 1) or equivalent Naval Architecture or engineering degree with significant practical survey or consultancy experience. Minimum 7 years worth of relevant industry experience. A track record of working on casualty responses, investigations, machinery failures or ship repairs is desirable. Experience in shipyard project management is beneficial. ISM Auditor credentials or experience working as a Class or Flag State inspector are beneficial. Further Information This position will be based at our office in Halifax, Nova Scotia. You must have the right to live and work in Canada. The job holder will be expected to undertake onshore and offshore assignments at short notice.
