What You''ll Do: The successful candidate is an integral member of a multidisciplinary Severe Environments team which is responsible for applied research, consulting, and testing projects spanning testing of sub-surface oil and gas products to materials evaluation in hazardous environments. Primarily based onsite at C-FER''s 200 Karl Clark Road, Edmonton, Alberta facility, the successful candidate will: Engage with clients to identify industry needs and conceive feasible solutions to technical problems; Model engineering systems and design unique testing systems; Evaluate well construction designs, including well casing and liner, cement and advanced completion systems, and other downhole completion equipment for various applications such as thermal heavy oil and underground storage developments; Prepare test plans and develop detailed test procedures to evaluate client products and materials according to test specifications; Develop test fixtures and prepare specimens to interface with lab equipment such as servo-hydraulic load frames and high-pressure gas testing systems; Execute test programs based on test plans and procedures; Evaluate failures through data analysis; Participate in business development and marketing activities; and Attend technical conferences and assist in generating business proposals. What You Bring: Bachelor''s, Master''s or Doctorate degree in Mechanical, Civil, Material Engineering or a comparable engineering discipline; Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Professional Engineering (PEng) designation with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA); Ability to legally work in Canada, and for C-FER Technologies; Ability to travel and work outside of Canada; and Ability to work on-site daily (i.e. no remote or hybrid work). Additionally, you should have: Minimum of two years related experience with a solid grasp of engineering fundamentals, mechanical aptitude and a ''hands-on'' approach to learning and task execution; Experience in experimental testing; Background in advanced solid mechanics (plasticity, fracture mechanics); Proficiency in SolidWorks; General proficiency in programming (e.g. Python, R, Matlab, C#); Excellent interpersonal and team collaboration skills; and Strong technical writing skills, with the ability to develop clear, precise, and well-structured engineering reports, design specifications, proposals, and client-facing documentation. Complementary Experience: Proficiency in Abaqus; Experience in pipe and/or casing design and pipe stress analysis; Working knowledge of relevant industry standards (API 5C3, API 5CT, API 579-1, ASME B31.8, CSAZ662, ASTM E1820); Experience in project management; Materials testing experience; Background in, or knowledge of corrosion, electrochemistry, or hydrogen embrittlement fields; and/or Any experience in providing consulting services for the energy industry.
