Job Description

At METAFOR, we are reshaping how architecture firms operate by combining creative excellence with intentional business practices. As we grow and modernize our systems, we are moving beyond reactive operations toward a more strategic, insight-driven way of working. We are not looking for someone to ''keep the lights on.'' We are looking for someone who helps us build what comes next. Why This Role Exists METAFOR has reached a stage where strong leadership, capable teams, and modern systems are in place, but time and cognitive bandwidth are limited. Our Executive Leadership Team is deeply involved in day-to-day execution, which restricts their ability to: Finish half-built processes Improve how project financials inform decisions Build forward-looking tools (forecasting, dashboards, automation) Spend time thinking strategically instead of reacting operationally This role exists to close that gap. You will not be handed a static task list. You will be given outcomes, priorities, and evolving problems, and trusted to figure out how to get there. How You''ll Actually Spend Your Time This role blends hands-on execution with independent problem solving, with work split roughly as follows: Financial Operations & Project Support ( 50%) You will support the financial backbone of a project-based business by: Owning accounts payable execution and financial data accuracy Supporting invoicing, revenue tracking, and project financial hygiene Acting as a bridge between Finance, Operations, and Project Managers Helping PMs understand how financial data drives business outcomes, not just how to enter it into the ERP (Unanet AE) This is not a transactional role. Your work ensures that leadership decisions are based on reliable, well-structured information. Business Insight, Forecasting & Process Completion ( 50%) You will help turn information into insight by: Supporting revenue forecasting and operational planning with the Head of Operations Maintaining and evolving dashboards, reports, and models used by the ELT Identifying gaps in existing workflows and finishing what''s half-built Improving how Unanet AE is actually used(not just configured) Replacing manual effort with clearer, simpler, or automated processes This part of the role requires curiosity, judgment, and the ability to operate without a playbook. This is a project-driven role that intentionally changes as the business matures. Success is measured by problems solved, not tasks repeated. What We Care About Most We care more about how you think than what software you''ve used. You will thrive in this role if you: Are comfortable being given an outcome instead of instructions Ask smart clarifying questions then move independently Enjoy figuring things out that don''t yet have a playbook Can move between detail-oriented work and big-picture thinking Take pride in leaving systems, processes, and decisions better than you found them If your instinct is to say, ''I haven''t done that before'' instead of ''I can figure that out'', this role will likely not be a fit. Qualifications Required Degree or diploma in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field 14 years of experience in analysis, operations, coordination, or support roles Strong Excel skills and comfort working with imperfect or evolving data Ability to explain numbers clearly to non-finance stakeholders Experience with Unanet or other ERPs is helpful but not required. Why This Role Is Different This is not a static admin or AP role Responsibilities will change as systems improve You will work directly with senior leadership You will see how decisions are actually made You will help shape how a growing firm operates
