Summary of Primary Job Functions: The Executive Director will oversee the day-today operations of Advokate, a nonsectarian, notforprofit organization whose mission is to create educated communities where families thrive, and babies lives are valued and welcomed. The Executive Director serves as an advisor to the board of directors and collaborates in creating and executing board policies and the strategic plan. They establish and sustain an effective organizational structure and staff, coordinate major activities through the Leadership Team, and appraise assigned personnel. The Executive Director is responsible for external communications and represents Advokate to regulatory bodies, other agencies, churches, donors, and the general public. Responsible To: The Board of Directors of Advokate Life & Education Services Society Duties and Responsibilities: General: - Work with the board on strategic plan development - Act as the key spokesperson for Advokate - Execute boardapproved policies - Direct and oversee shortandlongterm strategic plans - Maintain a competent and effective managerial staff - Provide leadership to organization personnel through effective objective setting, delegation, and communication - Formulate and implement corrective action as needed Administration: - Ensure administrative staff remain current to the organizations business and board directives/approvals - Recommend policy and procedural changes to the board to improve the organization - Support governance policy issues and initiate approved recommendations or actions - Ensure compliance with government legislation, regulations, and guidelines pertinent to Advokates role - Maintain an effective and costefficient office environment - Oversee and manage all HR functions - Determine staff training and/or equipment needs within budget allocations - Submit required information, reports, and records to government officials or the board - Develop and implement operational plans, policies, and goals to support strategic objectives Qualifications: Professional: - Advanced degree(s) or experience in the faithbased nonprofit sector is an asset - Executivelevel managerial experience - Financial acumen - Public relations experience - Proven fundraising experience is an asset - Marketing experience is an asset Personal: - Passion for life, families, and babies - Inspirational communicator - Visiondriven and highly organized - Possesses high emotional intelligence - Demonstrates high ethical behavior aligned with Advokates values - Calm under pressure and able to juggle competing demands - Agreement with Advokates values Application Instructions: Please email resume and cover letter to: The Board of Directors [email protected] Website: advokate.ca Other Information: - Work Authorization:Applicants must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
