The Climate Change Secretariat (CCS) is the Government of Nunavut''s (GN''s) voice on climate change. Housed within the Department of Environment (ENV), CCS coordinates climate change action across the GN and advises departments and agencies on how to incorporate climate change initiatives into their work. Reporting to theManager, Adaptation (Manager), the Adaptation Coordinator (Coordinator) will play a key role in the development and implementation of adaptation initiatives within the GN to build a more climate resilient Nunavut.The Coordinator will work with stakeholders including GN Departments, the Federal Government, Inuit organizations, municipal governments, and community groups to advance climate change adaptation in Nunavut. It is the responsibility of the Coordinator to provide support in research, policy development, program management, and coordination to their Manager.This position is located in Iqaluit though their reach is beyond Iqaluit, resulting in the potential to travel throughout and outside the territory.The Coordinator should have a strong understanding of the Territory, knowledge of its people and its culture and appreciation of Inuit Societal Values.
