Company Overview In-Depth Contracting is a heavy civil construction company based in Ottawa with over 20 years of experience in large-scale excavations, watermain and sewer construction, site servicing, culvert replacements, shoring, demolition, and asphalt paving. Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented Estimator to join our team. This role is vital in ensuring accurate project cost assessments and supporting our mission to deliver high-quality infrastructure projects. The Estimator will collaborate closely with project managers and clients to develop competitive bids. Responsibilities Prepare detailed cost estimates for civil construction projects. Analyze project plans and specifications to determine scope of work, cost of materials, labour and equipment needed. Collaborate with project managers to develop accurate pricing strategies. Negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to secure competitive rates. Evaluate potential financial risks associated with projects, including delays and unexpected costs, and incorporate these into estimates. Assist in bid preparation and submission processes. Monitor project costs throughout execution to ensure budget adherence. Contribute to continuous improvement of estimating processes. Support project teams during contract negotiations and project planning Qualifications Proven 3-5 years experience in construction estimating within heavy civil or infrastructure projects. Strong negotiation skills and ability to work collaboratively. Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail. Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and pricing strategies. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications. Effective communication skills in English.
