The TELUS Tax team provides critical expertise, consultation and counsel to the various entities and business groups, domestic and international, within TELUS. Heres the impact youll make and what well accomplish together As a Canadian Income Tax Senior Associate, you will be part of a team of 20 Canadian income tax professionals and will leverage your indepth knowledge of Canadian income taxation on Canadian income tax return filings, audits, assessments and appeals. You will provide Canadian income tax advice and ensure initiatives are tax compliant and, as appropriate, develop and implement strategies and systems to minimize the overall tax burden and risk to TELUS. Heres how Reviewing and analyzing corporate financial records, researching and determining proper tax treatment for a wide variety of transactions, preparing Canadian federal and provincial income tax returns, and reviewing assessments and tax payments Support the management of audits conducted by Canadian taxation authorities including proactively liaising with government authorities in relation to audit or other issues or queries, reviewing reassessment proposals, researching legislation, preparing position papers, filing objections, and supporting negotiating resolutions and litigation Proactively supporting a broad range of internal initiatives as they relate to Canadian income taxation including mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, corporate reorganizations, process and efficiency initiatives, and treasury financing activities as required Actively supporting systems implementations and other projects with a view to optimizing taxation outcomes Participate in the teams continuing journey to benefit from the use of technology Qualifications Youre the missing piece of the puzzle Valued for your minimum of three to five years of Canadian income tax experience, indepth income tax knowledge and strong technical competence to ensure compliance with the Income Tax Act (Canada) Strong ability to analyze and research complex issues from a tax perspective and developing creative solutions to optimize income tax positions Strong financial accounting knowledge Expertise in Excel, Word, Taxprep (or other tax preparation software), and quick to learn other technology including Google Workspace Commended for your ability to take initiative and ownership of challenges and opportunities and see them through to resolution Known for your ability to foster strong relationships with and influence a diverse range of stakeholders at all levels Recognized as a strong communicator who conveys insights, concepts and ideas in a clear, simple and concise manner Respected as a collaborative partner who cultivates positive relationships and influences others, including senior leaders Strong organizational skills with the ability to scope out difficult tasks, set objectives and goals, develop schedules, prioritize multiple activities, and anticipate roadblocks Able to manage multiple deliverables to meet deadlines and goals in a fastpaced, complex and everchanging environment Appreciated for your curiosity and learning mindset, initiative, creativity and drive for continuous process improvement, and adaptability when faced with change and/or ambiguity Greattohaves Undergraduate degree and CPA designation Enrolled in or completion of CPA InDepth Tax Program Strong financial accounting knowledge Comfortable with or enthusiastically willing to learn new technology platforms and evolving automated intelligence technologies such as prompt engineering with Generative Artificial Intelligence software, e.g. ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot, etc #LI-REMOTE Salary Range: $78,000-$116,000 Performance Bonus or Sales Incentive Plan: 12% Actual total compensation will be determined based on factors such as knowledge, skills, performance and experience.
