Position: Manager, Building OperationsDepartment: Facility Operations & EngineeringReports to: Director, Arena OperationsPosition SummaryThe Manager, Building Operations ensures the efficient and cost-effective operation of the facility. Key responsibilities include overseeing day-to-day ice operations and building preparations for all events at Rogers Arena. The incumbent will be responsible for repairs and maintenance and will ensure that health and safety requirements are met. The Manager of Building Operations is also responsible for supervising five full-time Building Operators and contracted services.Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesResponsible for ice installation, maintenance, and removalSchedule and follow up on preventative maintenance tasks for mechanical, refrigeration, and other operational equipment within the buildingComplete reports relating to ice quality, mechanical, and refrigeration operationRepresent the Engineering department as Building Operations Management during eventsInitiate, develop, and implement programs and systems relating to facility and equipment maintenance, including preventative maintenance and managementMonitor and evaluate revenue and expenditures status on an on-going basis, preparing budget summaries and analysis as requiredManage a team of Building Operators in a pro-active and professional manner, striving for 100% employee satisfactionProvide input to the capital budgeting processProvide input in developing department operating procedures manual and ensure procedures are adhered to within departmentLiaise with Event Services and Game Entertainment departments to ensure event requirements are supportedProvide back-up support for vacation and other relief for team membersRequired Experience And QualificationsAt least five years of experience in a supervisory role at a multi-purpose Arena.At least five years of experience in ice maintenance and related ice-making equipment operationsFourth-Class Power Engineering Certificate or Refrigeration Operator Certificate is preferred.Experience in the operation, maintenance, and repair of a physical plant and systemsStrong and proactive supervisory skills in a unionized environmentThorough knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety practices associated with the area of facility maintenance and operationsStrong administrative and computer skills, including proficiency in MS OfficeOutstanding time management skills including the ability to prioritize clients, projects, and resourcesVancouver is one of the most diverse cities in the world and Canucks Sports & Entertainment strives to create a workforce that is inclusive, equitable, and represents our beautiful, unique community.
