Job location: Fort McMurray, Alberta Horizon Oil Sands Site Shift schedule: 4 days on, 3 days off, 10 hours/day (Monday Thursday) Term length: 12 months Term starts: January or May 2026 Safety sensitive position: Yes Key Accountabilities: Assist the Bitumen Production and/or Upgrading and Utilities Engineering Team in activities relating to operations, maintenance or construction support Understand process plant operation and equipment Collaborate with project and operations teams to ensure proper alignment with operations needs and requirements Review assets and data to see where we can improve the frequency of maintenance and be able to improve our uptime on equipment Participate in developing cost effective strategies for equipment that is problematic in the field Gather field measurements & data to assist engineers Focus on safety, cost reduction and reliability What You Bring to The Role: Currently enrolled in a bachelors degree program in Mechanical Engineering or within one year of graduation Previous engineering experience is considered an asset Possess a valid Class 5 Alberta drivers license or equivalent out of province license with a reasonably clean driver abstract and comfortable driving work trucks in a safe manner What We Offer: Quality camp facilities with multiple amenities available Company Sponsored Fly-In/Fly-Out from Calgary or Edmonton, Alberta Multiple volunteer opportunities within the community Students may be eligible for relocation assistance pursuant to Canadian Naturals Student Relocation Policy (Students will be responsible for finding their own accommodations during the work term) Opportunities to partake in initiatives such as the Intern Social Committee If you are interested in this exciting student work term opportunity, please include your resume, cover letter and unofficial transcripts as part of your online application.
