Sport Integrity Canada is seeking individuals to fill the vacancy of Doping Control Officer (DCO) Level 1 on a parttime casual employment basis in or near the cites of Whistler, Duncan, Surrey, Langley. DCO work is assignmentbased and dependent on organizational needs in a particular region. Sport Integrity Canada is an independent, national, notforprofit organization that works to protect and promote the integrity of sport in Canada. Through the administration of its programs, including the Canadian AntiDoping Program (CADP) and the Canadian Safe Sport Program (CSSP), we strive to ensure sport is safe, inclusive, fair, clean, and accessible for all Canadians. The CADP protects athletes right to fair and ethical competition and helps ensure the integrity of amateur sport. Under the Supervisor, Sample Collection Personnel, a DCO is key in implementing the CADP, is the face of Sport Integrity Canada at sporting events and is the first point of contact for athletes going through doping control. This role is responsible for conducting urine and blood sample collection sessions which take place both incompetition (events) and outofcompetition (training and home visits). DCOs are trained by Sport Integrity Canada in accordance with the World AntiDoping Agency (WADA) International Standard for Testing and Investigations. JOB DESCRIPTION Doping Control Officer LEVEL 1 Ideal candidates have completed postsecondary education and/or have experience in physiotherapy, athletic therapy, physical education, law enforcement, healthcare and medical services, education or other similar fields. They are selfstarters, possess strong communication skills, are flexible to changing needs, are diligent in following technical procedures and are able to demonstrate effective leadership skills to ensure the goals of the Sport Integrity Canada are achieved. Attributes and skills include: - Follow directions and instructions; - Ability to work in stressful situations and solve problems; - Act in a respectful and professional manner; - Effectively evaluate situations and exercise good judgment; - Follow a defined set of protocols and procedures; - Work in a high pressure, constantly changing environment; - Work with athletes of all levels, including Olympic, Paralympic and professional athletes; - Maintain information in a discreet and confidential manner. POSITION DETAILS Purpose - To collect and assist with and blood sample collection sessions for incompetition and outofcompetition testing missions; - To lead Level 1 doping control missions in accordance with the CADP as required; - To provide leadership, training and evaluation to Chaperones as required. Mandatory Requirements - Have a computer with internet access and a cell phone; - Possess a valid drivers license and have access to a vehicle; - Be willing and able to travel; - Maintain certification through training mechanisms provided by Sport Integrity Canada; - Adhere to the rules of the CADP; - Successfully go through the steps of the Sport Integrity Canada screening policy including a criminal records check; - Be willing to witness passing of a urine sample by athletes of the same gender as the DCO Availability DCOs must be available to complete up to five assignments per month but could be asked to complete up to 15 in peak periods. Assignment duration typically ranges between a few hours to a full workday. Hours of work are variable and will include early weekday mornings, evenings and weekends. Additional Qualifications and Skills - Education: High school diploma and/or postsecondary education or equivalent combination of education and experience in a relevant position. - Language Skills: Excellent English verbal and written communication skills are required and similar French language skills are preferred. - Leadership Skills: Professional conduct, sound judgment, strong interpersonal skills, problemsolving skills, flexibility to accept missions with little or no notice, ability to give/receive feedback. - Project Skills: Organizational skills, attention to detail, accuracy, ability to follow procedures, time management skills, ability to work in a team environment. - Computer Skills: Reasonable ability to use email, the Internet, MS Word and Excel.
