Casual Cleaning/ Maintenance Staff InnovOak School is a private JK to Grade 12 school that values a clean, safe, and well maintained learning environment. As the sole occupant of our building, we are supporting the search process for a casual cleaner to assist with additional cleaning and facilities support coverage. This is a fully casual relief position with no guarantee of hours and is best suited for someone who can adapt to being on call and is not relying on steady scheduling. InnovOak believes that hard work, reliability, and consistency can lead to future opportunities. While this position is casual, it provides a way to introduce yourself and may lead to consideration for roles with more hours in the future. Position Summary The casual cleaner supports the overall cleanliness and readiness of the building, so the school is prepared for students and staff each day. The role also includes assisting the Lead Custodian or Facilities Lead with light maintenance tasks and occasional setup projects. The position requires independence, steady work habits, and the ability to follow established routines and direction. Key Responsibilities Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors in classrooms, hallways, and shared spaces Clean and sanitize washrooms including toilets, sinks, counters, and mirrors Empty garbage and recycling and replace liners Disinfect high touch surfaces such as handles, switches, and railings Clean windows, furniture, and fixtures as needed Restock cleaning supplies and report low inventory or maintenance concerns Follow established cleaning procedures and safety guidelines Complete spot cleaning or additional tasks as required Assist with set up and clean up for school events when scheduled Maintain pace and timing to ensure the building is fully ready for the next day Assist the Facilities Lead with light maintenance tasks as needed Support small furniture assembly or building projects such as shelving, desks, or classroom furniture Assist with lifting, moving, or repositioning furniture and equipment Support general building upkeep tasks such as basic repairs, organization, or room resets when assigned Skills and Expectations Able to work independently with indirect supervision Reliable, punctual, and able to stay on schedule Strong attention to detail and consistent cleaning standards Able to stay focused on duties and avoid distractions Self motivated and able to maintain steady progress Experience in cleaning or janitorial work is an asset Experience with basic tools, furniture assembly, or general maintenance is an asset WHMIS knowledge is an asset Physically able to lift, carry, push, or pull items up to 50 lbs Able to follow direction and work respectfully alongside school staff and the facilities lead Friendly and professional, especially when working in spaces used by students and families Additional Information Work takes place outside student hours Personal protective equipment will be provided when required A Vulnerable Sector Check and three references are required
