Requisition Number: BUILD002195 Type: Internal applicants- Indeterminate Full-Time Hours of Work: 40 hours per week; (Monday through Friday; 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.) Compensation: $27.50-$32 per hour. (it is in process of being classified ). About the Job: The Building Maintenance Worker reports to the Maintenance Manager and Supervisor and is responsible for property upkeep, including inspections of common areas, repairs and painting of suites, preventative maintenance, ordering supplies, and reporting the need for qualified trades. They ensure compliance with local bylaws and legislation, respond to maintenance emergencies, and primarily complete work orders at their designated site, with coverage of additional sites as needed during emergencies or staff shortages About You: You are a feminist, passionate about the work of ending violence against women and children. You are familiar with colonialism especially as it applies in Canada and you understand the impact of the residential school system. You are committed to working with women who are struggling with substance use and or mental wellness and understand and are comfortable working within a harm reduction environment. Additional Requisites/Assets: High School Diploma or Equivalent Minimum 2 years experience working in Building Maintenance or trades Vocational training as related to building maintenance, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC or other related trades First Aid, WHIMIS, and Nonviolent Crises Intervention Training are required Experience working in and/or thorough knowledge of and comfortability working in the DTES is required, along with an understanding of the socioeconomic barriers within the community. Access to a reliable vehicle while on shift, class 5 drivers license, with two million lability insurance.
