The Lube Technician is responsible for performing routine preventive maintenance services on commercial trucks, including Class 68 vehicles. This role ensures vehicles are serviced to manufacturer and dealership standards, supporting safe operation and minimizing downtime for customers. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, safety-focused, and comfortable working on heavy-duty equipment. Key Responsibilities Preventive Maintenance & Fluid Services Perform oil and filter changes on diesel engines, transmissions, and differentials. Inspect and top up fluid levels including coolant, DEF, power steering, brake fluid, and washer solvent. Lubricate chassis components and driveline as required. Conduct grease services following OEM specifications. Vehicle Inspection & Documentation Perform multi-point inspections, identifying worn components or potential mechanical issues. Check belts, hoses, clamps, and fluid lines for leaks, wear, or damage. Inspect tires for tread depth, inflation, and abnormalities. Document all findings on inspection reports and communicate concerns to the service advisor or foreman. General Shop & Maintenance Duties Maintain clean, organized work areas and follow shop 5S or housekeeping standards. Operate shop equipment such as pneumatic tools, torque wrenches, fluid exchange machines, and lifting equipment safely and properly. Assist technicians with basic tasks as needed (battery replacement, lighting repairs, filter changes, etc.). Ensure waste oil, filters, and materials are disposed of according to environmental regulations. Safety & Compliance Follow all dealership safety procedures and manufacturer repair guidelines. Use required PPE, maintain awareness of hazards, and report unsafe conditions. Comply with workplace policies and regulatory requirements (including WHMIS, OHS, and environmental standards). Qualifications Required Mechanical aptitude and interest in commercial vehicle maintenance. Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in physically demanding shop conditions. Basic tool set. Valid driver''s license (Class 5 minimum); clean abstract. Preferred Experience with heavy-duty trucks or diesel engines. Class 1 or 3 driver''s license is an asset. Previous lube technician or quickservice experience. Familiarity with OEM maintenance systems (International, Peterbilt, Freightliner, Kenworth, etc.).
