We are seeking a motivated Registered Nurse with a dedication for delivering compassionate patient care to join our team in the Emergency department at the Fort Nelson Hospital.Within a model of person-centered care and guided by the vision and values of Northern Health, the Staff Nurse is responsible and accountable to provide professional nursing services in a manner consistent with Northern Health standards, the College of BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM), the National Emergency Nursing Affiliation (NENA) Standards and the Canadian Nurses Association (CNA) Code of Ethics for Nursing.Reporting to the Emergency Manager and as a member of a health care team, the Staff Nurse applies Emergency Nursing knowledge and skills to care for various complex health care issues, from non-urgent to life threatening, for clients who present to the Emergency Department.Northern Health Regional Emergency Training Program Details: The Northern Health Regional Emergency Department Education Program (REDEP) utilizes a standardized, evidence informed on-line curriculum offered by Elsevier, called Emergency Nursing Orientation (ENO). REDEP combines Elsevier's ENO online curriculum with a skills/simulation lab and clinical practicum to prepare registered nurses to provide safe and competent emergency nursing care, at a novice level.There is 1 training positions available for 2025/2026.Northern Health provides placement support and funding for tuition, textbooks, and travel expenses for clinical placements, as requiredSuccessful candidates may be required complete pre-requisite courses through part-time distance education, on their own time, prior to assuming this positionLearners should expect to make a 4-6 month commitment for this education, which includes online and in-person learningAdditional study time, outside of scheduled hours, will be required to successfully complete the programMust have completed Heart and Stroke BLS in the last 6 monthsFlexibility for practicums is necessaryPrior experience on an acute care ward (i.e. medical/surgical) preferredCurrent BLS certification within a year is mandatory prior to the skills/simulationPreference for participants who have completed an electrocardiogram (ECG) course prior to beginning REDEP.Applicants must successfully complete the education program prior to working in the departmentUpon successful completion of the education program, Northern Health requires an eighteen (18) month return of service in a regular position in the area of nursing applicable to the education program.Qualified applicants will be considered first for specialty positions. If there are no qualified applicants, training lines will be awarded to unqualified applicants and training will be providedACTUAL START DATE & HOURS OF WORK varies as education is on-going throughout 2025/2026.
