Introduction As Ontario''s largest fleet of combined cycle turbine gas plants, Atura Power plays a key role in the province''s electricity system and diverse generation supply. Our facilities are located across the province (Napanee, Halton Hills, Toronto, Niagara Falls and Windsor). This position is located at Atura''s hydrogen production facility the Niagara Hydrogen Centre located in Niagara Falls, ON. Job Summary Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Electrical Instrumentation and Controls (EIC) Maintenance Technician will collaborate with Managers, Engineers, Operations, and Maintenance personnel to safely support plant operations, troubleshoot equipment, perform corrective and preventative maintenance activities, as well as supervise contractual resources. This new position requires the skills to help develop, manage, and assess work plans to enable the effective completion of work activities across the work management system, executed safely, effectively, on time and according to its priority. The EIC technician is represented by the Power Workers Union and is day shift based, during plant downtime (outages) off hours work may be required. Responsibilities Typical duties and responsibilities include: Perform safe work practices in line with company and OHSA policies and procedures Prioritize, plan and complete preventative, predictive and corrective maintenance on various instrumentation, controls (DCS), electrical and electronic equipment and PLC systems Reporting of work completed within the site CMMS (which is Maximo); this includes recording all relevant information for work order completion, updating work status, signing out parts/materials, and running reports Arrange for and Perform contractor supervisory (active control) duties, which include the management and coordination of contractors and safe work procedures Scope, plan, and execute plant maintenance outages Apply knowledge and skills to troubleshoot hydrogen, water and gas control and monitoring equipment, including motors, valves, actuators, and associated instrumentation Have/acquire working knowledge of gas and/or steam turbines, generators and associated equipment and controls Directly support procurement and inventory management; from requesting quotes, to entering PO''s Develop, implement, and improve Maintenance Plans and Procedures for assigned equipment areas Demonstrate basic knowledge and understanding of various industrial safety systems and functions (Lock out/Tag out, confined space, first aid, etc.) Education and Experience Completion of a minimum two-year college diploma program in instrumentation and control is required. 447A instrumentation and controls trade ticket is preferred Journeyman electricians holding a 442A or 309 trade ticket(s) is considered an asset Minimum five (5) years of related experience in instrumentation and controls is required Proven experience in an electrical power facility is preferred Consideration will be given to various combinations of experience, education, and training Will consider 4th or 5th year apprentices A Technician''s/Technologist Diploma in Electrical/Electronic/Controls Engineering is considered an asset TSSA Hydrogen Certificate an asset Position Qualifications Advanced understanding of the fundamental principles of industrial systems, including electrical, instrumentation, controls, and power generation systems Ability to work safely on or around hydrogen systems Working knowledge and experience in maintenance and calibration of components used to control and measure level, pressure, flow, temperature, vibration, velocity and torque. Working knowledge of mechanical and electrical equipment such as air compressors, Electrolyzers, pumps, fans, DCS and PLC systems, water treatment systems, high/medium/low voltage breakers and switches, HVAC systems and components, access control system and components, video surveillance system and components, control network systems and components. Experience in troubleshooting plant equipment failures under pressure Experience with various PLCs including troubleshooting and programming Computer literacy: MS Office Suite Programs and CMMS Team player with a positive attitude Excellent written and verbal communication skills Demonstrate prioritization skills and the ability to manage multiple competing priorities Detail oriented with good organizational and planning skills Ability to execute work as part of a team or independently Willingness to work extended hours, as required, based on operational and business requirements, especially during maintenance outages or emergency call outs Experience with Maximo and SharePoint are considered an assets Additional certifications considered an asset (ie. Hoisting and rigging training, forklift training, confined space and working at heights training, licensed industrial gas fitter) Be able to meet the physical requirements of the role: Lift 50 pounds Ascend/descend stairs multiple times during a shift, climb ladders Working at heights and /or in confined spaces This position requires candidates to: Have and maintain a valid G Driver''s license Successfully complete a criminal record check.
