Our Centre has 9 classrooms and 7 playgrounds, and we''re licensed for 174 children. Our ages range from 18 months to 4 years (Preschool and toddler programs). Through their play, children engage in self-discovery, problem solving, and cooperation with their peers. As educators, we assist children in understanding and explaining their discoveries. Our teaching is a mix of educational philosophies. For example, High Scope and Reggio But mostly play-based learning. Job Summary We are looking to hire a Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) that will provide quality care and support to children by implementing the centre''s programs that are tailored to individual needs. The RECE will ensure all regulatory standards are met in accordance with centre policies, the Ministry of Education and other governing bodies such as the Brant County Health Unit and Fire Department. Qualifications / Assets Diploma in Early Childhood Education. Registered with the college of ECEs in good standing. Standard First Aid CPR/AED Level C Certificate. Vulnerable Sector Police Check (New or dated within the last six (6) months or provide a receipt confirming that the check is currently in progress). Up-to-date immunizations. Participation in the Continuous Professional Learning model set out by the College of Early Childhood Education and taking 3 professional learning workshops/seminars/etc. annually. A positive and empathetic attitude towards staff, children, and families. An understanding of the issues that affect children and their families. Ability to problem-solve and work as a team with staff and management. Willingness to work flexible hours. A good working knowledge of computers (E.g. Microsoft Word). Duties & Responsibilities Program Support Organize space, equipment, and materials before activities. Plan and deliver developmentally appropriate activities aligned with the center''s philosophy and program statement. Provide a balanced daily program including indoor/outdoor, active/quiet, individual/group, and child-directed play. Create a safe, engaging environment that supports independence, self-regulation, imagination, and problem-solving. Use positive teaching strategies to support and reinforce learning, communication, and behavior. Individualize the Curriculum Observe how each child plays, uses materials, and interacts with others. Use what you observe to plan activities that support each child''s needs and interests. Plan and provide activities that reflect and support diversity, including a variety of cultures, backgrounds, and family values. Support families by making referrals or connecting them to additional services when needed. Guide Children''s Behavior Set clear and reasonable behaviour expectations that align with the centre''s philosophy and policies. Provide positive guidance, such as redirection, positive language, and positive reinforcement. Address problem behaviour without labelling the child. Maintain knowledge of services offered by Lansdowne Children''s Services to support parent referrals. Children''s Health, Safety & Well-Being Follow the centre''s procedures for administering medication and maintaining health records. Report accidents, injuries, and illnesses to the supervisor and record them in the daily. logbook and as a serious occurrence when required. Monitor the environment regularly for safety hazards. Keep children''s allergy information and special conditions up to date. Support daily eating routines that are positive and engaging, such as self-serving Attend to the children''s physical needs, including toileting, diapering, eating, and sleeping. Report any suspected child abuse to the supervisor and follow centre procedures and government regulations. Release children only to authorized individuals. Positive Communication with Parents Communicate daily with families about program activities and their child''s progress. Follow parent/guardian instructions for daily routines when possible within the program. Encourage parent/guardian participation in the program. Respect parent/guardian decisions related to children''s care (e.g., toileting, feeding, bottles, pacifiers, sippy cups). Strive to build positive relationships with children and families. Centre Operations & Team Participation Follow all licensing and regulatory requirements. Complete assigned duties and responsibilities. Attend staff meetings and take part in performance reviews. Respect confidentiality of information related to children, families, and staff. Contribute to program planning and the centre''s annual goals. Engage in ongoing professional learning and personal development. Stay informed about current early childhood education practices. Maintain reliable attendance and punctuality. Work collaboratively with educators across rooms to support transitions, shared ideas, and programming. Maintain regular attendance and punctuality. Arrive on time for scheduled shifts.
