We are seeking a full time Electrician to join our controls team. The successful candidate will become a crucial part of wiring panels, in the shop and field and becoming a critical part of our controls team. This position is based out of our Edmonton, Alberta office with a component of office and field work and a good portion of time within the Alberta region. The position involves working in the office / shop on a Monday to Friday 8am-5pm schedule and travelling to customer sites within Western Canada when required. Company vehicle and all expenses would be provided while travelling and on customer sites. Ideally to perform this role you will be a journeyman electrician or have panel building or controls experience. Madsen Controls & Engineering specializes in industrial engine speed controls and protections, power management, as well as steam and gas turbines controls so there is opportunity for this role to become exposed to these applications as well. Various electrical harness manufacturing Working with procurement dept to order materials needed for panel construction Management of materials used in panel fabrication, recording of critical component information, arranging panel CSA inspections when necessary Various aspects of design, installation and commissioning of control panels for projects Assisting engineering staff in performing panel QC and customer witnessed simulation testing of completed systems Working with engineering on panel layout and design as required Crating and packaging completed systems when needed Onsite installation of new controls, upgrades, panel installation, wiring, commissioning of new controls as required Willing to travel for installation and commissioning - travel expenses paid by employer Successful candidates should have a mix of the following skills, experience and abilities: Experience in a panel-shop environment Experience working in power generation applications as a panel assembler or service technician Understanding of electrical schematics and drawings, ability to interpret drawings Experience with different types of control systems related to engines, turbines and power generation preferred Experience and knowledge of generator controls and excitation systems preferred Experience working with some combinations of gas / diesel engines, steam or gas turbines preferred Preferably hold either a Journeyman Electrician ticket, currently be an electrical apprentice or relevant experience panel building experience Valid driver''s licence Current safety tickets High level of mechanical and electrical aptitude Strong understanding of both AC and DC electric circuits Field service experience would be an asset Attention to detail and customer service Please only apply if you reside within the Edmonton Area and meet the above requirements.
