The Communications and Media Lead, Canada, is responsible for leading and implementing communication strategies and plans to significantly enhance HDRs brand and reputation in Canada. This role will serve as the primary communications partner for HDR Canadas Engineering and Architecture Business Groups (Architecture, Transportation, Water, Resources and Building Engineering Services), as well as other internal business partners, creative, marketing and communications teams. The role will liaise with national, regional and sectorspecific leadership teams to showcase HDR's achievements and capabilities to target audiences, new markets and key decision makers. Reporting to the National Director Business Development and working closely with the Canada Communication and Media Specialist you will lead the creation of engaging and relevant content to implement integrated content marketing campaigns that support our strategic marketing and design initiatives. You will work closely with our corporate communications team to ensure the best content from our global thought leaders is localized for the Canadian market. Assignments will be diverse including ghost writing, creating marketing collateral, creating white papers, creating content for social media, website and blogs, collaborate on award submissions, write media releases, create ecampaigns and webinars, edit and review conference abstracts, and other communications and public relations activities. Responsibilities - Lead implementation and measure success for the national communications strategy for HDR in Canada to support key business development priorities. - Integrate into the Canadian business group leadership teams to identify and capitalize on communication opportunities to highlight project milestones, thought leaders, recruitment, events, market engagement and expansion. - Protect and promote the HDR brand by ensuring that all communications, marketing materials, and proposals adhere to global HDR brand guidelines and visual identity standards. - Manage reactive media relations and build proactive media relationships by connecting with national, local, industry and trade media in relevant areas and develop compelling press releases, media advisories, pitches and backgrounders. - Create, edit and curate content on the HDR Canada website, internal communications, and social media channels, ensuring all content is engaging and tailored to target audiences. - Work with engineers, architects, designers and other subject matter experts to develop and ghost write highquality communication materials, including proposals, presentations and interviews, feature articles, thought leadership articles, case studies, white papers, award submissions, and multimedia content. - Monitor, track and analyze the effectiveness of communication efforts and compare against market standards and competitors. - Take ownership of tactics and outcomes and measure their impact. - Deliver employee training to activate and guide communications. - Monitor industry best practices and maintain a repository of trends and examples. - Track and report on scope, schedule, and budget for communication activities pertinent to area of specialization. - Bring genuine, creative ideas to the table. - Manage and develop multidiscipline teams. - Perform other duties as necessary. Preferred Qualifications - Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in corporate communications, public relations, or internal/external affairs including leadership experience. - Demonstrable experience working in architecture and/or engineering sectors, such as Power, Transit, Water, Mining, Oil & Gas, Manufacturing, Healthcare, Community, Education etc. - Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical information (such as science/engineering concepts) into clear, compelling, nontechnical narratives. Required Qualifications - A minimum of 10 years relevant industry experience, including management experience. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills. - Selfmotivated and ability to work independent with multiple teams as well as team oriented. - Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills. - Great interpersonal and communication skills - positive outlook and attitude. - High aptitude for managing and solving tactical issues. - An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employeeowned culture is a must. - Comfortable and competent while working with senior leaders and managing crossfunctional efforts. - Demonstrated ability to operate both strategically and tactically in a highenergy, fastpaced environment. - Committed to quality, continuous improvement, and HDR values. - Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite - InDesign. - Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
