The Glencoe Golf & Country Club is seeking a Full-Time Sous Chef to join our Kitchen team. The Sous Chef is a key contributor to the efficient operation of the kitchen. The Sous Chef will lead with passion, inspire, mentor and develop staff while ensuring that each members dining experience meets their expectations. This position will need to be comfortable both interacting with members to ensure that the experience is exceptional, while being able to ensure back-of-house operations are running efficiently. Responsibilities: Lead kitchen staff (Chef de Partie, Line Cooks and Stewards) to ensure quality, speed and consistency of food Prepare exceptional food for our members in a busy restaurant environment Continually investigate industry trends and bring new, innovative ideas to the Club Take ownership in designing and implementing creative food features, promotions, and menu changes Fulfill management duties including payroll and administration during the Executive Chefs absence Lead by example and ensure protocols, policies, and procedures are followed Develop employees and provide ongoing staff training in the form of daily coaching, employee feedback and leading staff meetings Actively participate in performance management of staff including yearly performance reviews In coordination with the Executive Chef, manage inventory, food orders, and ensure cost effective food preparation Ensure food safety and kitchen cleanliness guidelines and regulations are followed Qualifications: Minimum of 5 years experience, with 2-3 years in a leadership role Experience creating seasonal, fresh, and innovative menus Creative and innovative with food knowledge and preparation Strong interpersonal and team skills with the ability to lead a team Resilience through daily stressful situations Ability to work through difficult situations in a professional manner Strong administration and organizational skills Physical capability for frequent heavy lifting Keen willingness to learn Completion of a recognized cooking program is an asset Red Seal and Food safe course is an asset Reliable transportation is required as there is no public transportation to our location Why choose us: An inclusive and diverse working environment highlighted by creativity and collaboration, featuring top industry leaders Numerous opportunities for personal and professional growth including training and development Delicious, fulsome employee meals prepared daily for staff working shifts more than 5 hours a day Numerous employee recognition programs to reward you for your incredible efforts Additional Details: This is a Full Time position that reports to the Executive Chef. The successful candidate may be required to work a variety of shifts including weekdays, evenings, weekends and holidays, so a flexible schedule is required.
