The Summer Student, Asset Performance Analytics supports our Asset Risk Management team by using data and AI to improve how we manage the power grid. As a summer student, you''ll work with a senior data analyst and get hands-on experience with modern tools (like Databricks and machine learning) to analyze asset data and present findings that inform investment decisions. This position is part of ENMAX''s 16-week Summer Student Program ENMAX invests in future talent by providing real project experience and mentorship. Applicants must be enrolled full-time in a relevant post-secondary program and returning to school after the summer term. Major Responsibilities: Perform data preparation and quality checks on datasets related to assets, inspections, maintenance, and geospatial information. Assist in testing, documenting, and deploying analytical tools used for asset risk assessment and reliability analysis. Conduct research and benchmarking on emerging AI techniques and utility best practices (e.g., using computer vision for equipment inspections). Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, operations, etc.) to gather requirements and interpret analytics findings for decision-making. Prepare clear summaries and presentations of insights and model outputs to support asset management decisions and governance. Education Required: Currently enrolled in a degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, or Mathematics. (Electrical Engineering students with coursework in data analytics or programming are also encouraged to apply.) Must be returning to full-time studies after the work term. Qualifications & Experience: Technical background in engineering or IT with strong data analysis abilities. Experience with research and report writing for technical projects. Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau). Basic programming/scripting skills (Python, SQL) for data manipulation and analysis. An interest in or exposure to advanced analytics or machine learning (considered an asset). Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with an ability to learn new technologies quickly.
