Description: Reporting to the Senior Director, Operations or Program Manager, the Nurse Practitioner (NP) is employed in a variety of settings across the continuum of care including acute care and continuing care. The NP uses an evidence-informed holistic approach that emphasizes the nursing professions' values, expertise and education. The majority of time is spent in clinical practice where the NP role includes, but is not limited to, diagnosing and managing common and complex health conditions, promoting health and preventing illness/injury, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, prescribing pharmaceuticals, medical devises and other therapies and performing procedures, interventions and/or treatments. The NP performs restricted activities within their scope of practice as defined by Schedule 24 of the Health Professions Act, the Registered Nurses Profession Regulations, and the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). In some clinical settings, the NP is considered the most responsible provider. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the AUNP Collective Agreement. Must possess relevant and recent clinical expertise within stream of practice. Must be eligible for licensure with CRNA as a Nurse Practitioner. Must be appropriately licensed with the clinical practice stream relevant to area of clinical employment. Additional Required Qualifications: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to enable working directly with residents/patients and their family members. Demonstrated ability to work as a team member. Ability to function independently. Excel at working in a dynamic fast paced environment. Work well under pressure and in stressful situations. Application and knowledge of current research. Experience in a wide range of assessment, treatment and therapeutic interventions, health promotion, diagnostic procedures and follow up care within LTC, End of Life Care, Palliative Care, and Restorative Care. Must understand and practice to full scope of their knowledge in an interdisciplinary team environment. Preferred Qualifications: 3-5 years of recent clinical experience as an NP in continuing care is preferred. Recent clinical experience as an RN in continuing care. Connect care experience.
