Are you passionate about climate impact within Smith Engineering? Do you want to build a growing design club into a staple of the Engineering Society? We are looking for you. Information on Qlean Qlean is looking for two Co-Captains for the academic year to steward the design club through a crucial growth phase. Over the last two years, Qlean has had its genesis and grown to a club of 50 members and a budget over $7000+. It is essential that this momentum continues and Qlean settles into a stable organization. This year, we have two projects running concurrently: Renewable Energy and Carbon Capture. These projects allow for engineering students to build climate technologies and gain experience to get hired. To further connect our students and the Engineering Society to the climate industry, we are hosting a speaker series with professionals to share their perspectives. What impacts could you have as a Co-Captain? You get to take the club where you want. Below are some possibilities based on some work we did this year. Establish a clean technology job board with our partner organization RXNHUB Select competitions to compete in and transition Qlean into a Design Team, giving us access to the Design Bay Create new projects and opportunities regarding climate action on campus Collect other climate action initiatives on Queen''s Campus and bring them in with funding under Qlean Develop the sponsorship portfolio and alumni engagement to increase sponsorship So what would your and your fellow Co-Captains'' day-to-day responsibilities be? Internal Interactions Steward the club in the direction of your vision. Including, but not limited to: Ensuring that the structure of the organization fosters strong collaboration between team members Building technical projects that also teach our members something new Being a centre of sustainable innovation within Smith Engineering Lead the project executives and help them run their projects logistically and technically Help resolve internal tension and delegation of responsibilities Be a role model of the club''s (and your) vision to executives and members Advertise, interview, and hire the project executives who will lead the projects and run sponsorships Foster a strong and personable culture in line with Qlean''s values. External Interactions Consult and deepen the relationship with our Faculty Advisor, Dr. Rachel Baker and develop new relationships across the faculty of engineering Professionally represent Qlean with external sponsors/alumni to get funding and partnerships Network with industry professionals to get speakers for the speaker series Establish a close relationship with the Smith Administration to assist with Dean''s Donation and alumni outreach Interview Logistics Applications are due February 16th (three days into Reading Break). Both rounds of interviews will happen starting the week after reading break (January 23-29th), in Week 7. You must apply with a partner who will be your Co-Captain. The applications and first round interviews are done individually. The second round will be done with your partner; you will be interviewed as a duo.
