As we continue to grow across Western Canada, we are looking for a Civil Construction Estimator / Project Manager who wants to own projects from first takeoff to final turnover and take pride in seeing their work become something tangible. How You Will Get to Contribute In this role, you will sit at the intersection of strategy and execution. You will help shape how projects are won, then lead how they are delivered. You will translate drawings and scopes into clear plans, aligned teams, and well run jobsites. From early estimating and bid strategy through construction and closeout, you will drive outcomes that matter. Safe work. Controlled costs. Reliable schedules. Strong client relationships. What You Will Get to Do Win and Set Projects Up for Success Contribute to civil estimates by developing quantities, pricing strategies, and execution plans Participate in site visits, constructability reviews, and risk identification during bidding Help shape bid strategy and ensure clear project handoff Build realistic budgets, schedules, and resource plans that crews can execute Lead Projects from Start to Finish Manage civil construction projects from award through closeout Coordinate mobilization, procurement, subcontractors, and site activities Track cost, schedule, and progress and adjust early when conditions change Ensure work is delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with contract requirements Be the Hub Between Field, Office, and Client Act as a primary point of contact for clients, consultants, and stakeholders Lead project meetings, reporting, and documentation Support field supervision with planning, problem solving, and decision making Keep leadership informed with clear and practical project updates Keep Projects Controlled and Documented Manage contracts, change orders, progress claims, and invoicing Maintain accurate project records, drawings, and documentation Keep project management systems current and reliable Review and approve timecards, costs, and project data Build Strong Teams and Culture Support and mentor field and office team members Contribute to performance feedback and professional development Reinforce a culture built on safety, accountability, and teamwork Lead by example with calm decision making under pressure Where You Will Be Based This position is based out of our Cranbrook, British Columbia office at 1600A Theatre Road. Typical office hours are Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Regular travel to project sites is required. Occasional overtime or weekend work may be needed during critical project phases. The Kind of Experience That Helps You Succeed Background and Exposure Post secondary education in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field, or equivalent hands on experience One to five years of experience in civil construction estimating and or project management Exposure to earthworks, utilities, roadbuilding, or similar civil scopes Experience working in active construction environments where conditions evolve How You Tend to Work You want to understand the reasoning behind the numbers, not just the totals You are comfortable balancing multiple priorities without losing control You communicate clearly with crews, clients, and leadership You identify risk early and address it before it becomes a problem You take ownership and follow things through to completion Additional Requirements Valid Class 5 Driver''s Licence Comfort working with estimating and project management software Industry certifications or additional training are considered an asset Why MacKay At MacKay Contracting, you are not just managing line items.
