Job Description

The Opportunity: The City of Red Deer is currently recruiting for a Coordinator Operations (Taxation) to fill a permanent full-time position. The Coordinator Operations is responsible for the operation of one or more of the specialized operational sections of accounts receivable, taxation, utility billing and payments. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring accuracy and completeness of the work performed by the Customer Support Representatives and Customer Service Associates. This position is responsible for sectional operational oversight, training and development of staff, maintenance and development of systems, maintenance and development of business processes, building stakeholder relations, resolving escalated customer situations, ensuring exceptional customer service and fostering a positive and inclusive work environment. As our preferred candidate, you will have: Completion of a university degree with a major in business or accounting. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Five years'' of progressively related professional experience in an integrated computerized environment, preferably performing utilities, accounts receivable, collections or payment processing duties. Requires a strong knowledge of financial and management systems, accounting analysis and business processes. One-year supervisory experience is preferred. Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word and experience with PowerPoint and Outlook The following experience would be considered an asset: Previous experience with JD Edwards, Tempest, Geoware or utilities software in a government environment Knowledge of accounts receivable, utility and collections theory/procedures and ability to apply legislation and policy (GST, MGA, City policies and bylaws) to receivable business practices Formal training in Violence In the Workplace, Dealing with Difficult Customers Understanding of internal controls Exposure to procedure development and implementation, flowcharting or process software All employees must demonstrate the RISE Principles (Respect, Integrity, Service and Excellence) in the work we perform. Affiliation: Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local 417 Remuneration: $46.53 to $48.98 per hour Hours of Work: 75 hours biweekly; Monday to Friday, some evening and weekend work may be required when needed.
