We are currently hiring a Journeyperson Welder to join the team at our Wynyard facility in Wynyard, SK. Compass Minerals'' Wynyard Mechanical Evaporation Plant is located on Big Quill Lake. The plant is Canada''s largest producer of sulfate of potash (SOP). The site uses two unique processes to produce SOP: ion exchange process and glaserite process. SOP from this site is used for the pharmaceutical, medical, food and fertilizer industries, and other industrial uses. The Wynyard Plant is located right on Big Quill Lake, in a friendly community of 1,800, situated 50 minutes from the city of Humboldt and a 2-hour drive from Saskatoon. This position reports to the Maintenance Supervisor within the Wynyard Plant Maintenance Team, and works alongside other trades, to accomplish company objectives. The Journeyperson Welder is an hourly, permanent full-time position for the Wynyard Plant in Saskatchewan. Safety is paramount here at Compass Minerals facilities, and as such, general and job-specific PPE is provided and required to be worn. How will you contribute to the team? To perform this role successfully, the candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following Be skillful in the fusing of metals using prescribed welding applications. Have working knowledge of the welding equipment involved with the various welding procedures. Comprehend drawings and develop layout patterns for projects. Calculate quantities of materials Have thorough knowledge of oxyacetylene, shielded metal arc, flux cored arc, metal core arc, gas metal arc, gas tungsten arc, submerged arc, and other welding processes as necessary. Recognize defective welds; know the cause and proper procedure for the repair of the defective area. Have working knowledge of mathematics calculations pertaining to the welding trade. Have working knowledge of the required codes. Be familiar with the work of other trades people in affiliated trades. Perform assigned tasks in accordance with quality and production standards required by industry. What should you bring to the role? Saskatchewan certificated Journeyperson Welding or Red Seal Certification CWB certification or be willing to obtain this certification. Experience fabrication welding is required Mechanical background is an asset. Have the ability to operate mobile equipment. Ability to multi-task, have a high sense of urgency with regards to operational requirements and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Experience in E1/JD Edwards is an asset.
