This will be one of North America''s largest thermal fuel-switch projects and will provide downtown Vancouver with renewable energy infrastructure for decades to come. The Opportunity: We are seeking a customer service focused Power Engineer to operate and maintain our Steam Distribution System, including boiler plant operations, steam, hot and chilled water plants and distribution systems and building services. You will: Assist other Service Engineers as directed in the operation and maintenance of the Steam and Hot Water distribution systems. Assist with repair or new installation of building services. Operate equipment as necessary - manhole blowers, pumps, etc. Transport materials from plant or suppliers'' premises to the job site. Read and record all building consumption meters at month end and as required during the month. Assist in the removal, rebuild and recording of all service line distribution equipment e.g., Pressure Reducing Valve''s, pilots, traps, drums, etc. You may be required to work as Assistant Engineer on shift. Other duties as required for the safety, improvement, and day-to-day operation of the Plant and distribution system. Qualifications and Experience: Hold a valid 4th Class Power Engineering Certificate. 3rd Class Power Engineering Certificate Preferred Other relevant trade qualifications or certificates are considered an asset. Minimum of 3 5 years of related experience, including chillers, chilled water systems, instrumentation, electrical, HVAC and pipe fitting experience. Specialized Skills, Knowledge and Experience: Knowledge of health and safety requirements and a commitment to operate in a team environment with a focus on safety. Demonstrated interpersonal skills. Demonstrated communication skills. Committed to providing superior customer service. Ability to contribute to an environment focused on operational excellence and continuous process improvement. Proactive and results-oriented with the ability to take initiative. Attention to detail and a problem-solving mindset. Computer skills and the ability to use e-mail, electronic logs and databases.
